7 inch Friction Articulating Magic Arm Stabilizer Mount for Camera DV LCD Monitor Camcorder LED Light

I used this for some Arlo Pro 2 cameras outdoors. With the basic base, I couldn't get the camera to an angle that showed enough of my front door and driveway. When I used this in addition, I was able to get it perfect and have a much better picture (mounting just under roof, so more usable coverage of the camera as a result). I didn't see anything with the quality to indicate that it won't last a long time. Really solid product that gives you flexibility in mounting.

The media could not be loaded.  If you are going to use this arm with lightweight cameras, it will serve you well. Since it has a 1/4 inch screw hole on one end It will mount on a tripod and it has a 1/4 inch screw on the other so you can mount your camera to it. It also comes with a cold shoe mount as you can see on the attached video. However, this arm would extend your equipment from your tripod at a maximum of 6 inches. The title says 7 inches but that would be only if you are using the cold shoe mount and even then it is not quite 7 inches long after you screw everything in place.In my case, I needed a small arm to extend the solar panel that charges one of my Arlo Pro 2 cameras so it can get more sun. The reason I gave this arm 3 stars is because the solar panel is fairly light (much lighter than an SLR or other cameras) and while I tightened this knob as much as I could, it does not take much force to move it out of position. Both ends are on a ball mount so you can adjust the camera, or in my case the solar panel, any way you would like. The ball mounts get "locked" by the same knob that is in the center of this arm. Although this is very useful because the knob will loosen and tighten everything with one hand while you hold your attached equipment in the position that you want, the ball mounts on the ends cannot hold much weight without moving no matter how much I tighten the knob.

This thing is like magic trick. I don't know how the designers/engineers did it - The one knob controls all of the moving elbows. So by loosening the one knob, all of the adjustment points loosen up. And tightening the one knob sets all of the positions in one step. It's pretty slick. The unit is not very big - even when fully extended. The benefit is in how you can tilt, turn, and adjust everything with just the one knob. It easily attaches to a tripod with a standard 1/4 inch thread - or a hot shoe -

each arm is 3.5 inches long... not 7 inches. product image incredibly deceiving.

Sorry, it "looks" like exactly what I want, BUT - I still have no idea if it attaches to a tripod and what extras I need to make it do so. It would be very helpful if the directions on all amazon items explained everything you need to know.
