So far so good, no real complaints
So far so good, no real complaints. The only potential problem might be the hub connector sticking out as one needs to be careful when putting the item in a bag not to bend or break it off. Yes could have had a separate cable to connect the device instead of the connector protruding out but then one could misplace the cable and the device would be useless. Anyway this is nitpicking and glad I bought the item.

Physically damaged my microSD card, causing DATA LOSS.
UPDATE 0301: I attempted to download the contents of a microSD card using the card reader and it scratched the card rendering it unreadable, effectively destroying the data. The card contained videos of family vacation in Hawaii. Thanks for nothing Satechi :-( DO NOT buy unless you're looking for an SD card wiper. Booo..... ------------ I bought this hub for two purposes: 1) to download media from my SD and ultraSD cards in the field, and 2) to connect USB hard drives. So far, it's only meeting one of my two needs. The card readers and power pass-through work well, and I've been able to connect spinning hard drives via USB, but I have several SSDs in external USB enclosures (like Envoy from OWC) that don't mount when connect to the Satechi USB ports. Maybe the enclosures draw too much power? I'd love to know more about how much power the Satechi USB ports provide. I'm _really_ hoping that the 512GB MyDigitalSSD (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N0V4JG2/) works with the (fickle?) USB ports on this device. Update: this POS doesn't work with either the Samsung T1 or the MyDigitalSSD.

This is a good (if slightly pricey) adaptor that gets around the limit of one USB-C port on the new MacBook. The size and set of ports are just right (at least for me). The only thing that seems a little questionable is that this is a pretty long gizmo to be mechanically attached by just the USB-C port at one end. I wonder if the leverage due to the length may exert enough torque around the port that something may snap one day. Not clear how a third party manufacturer could design around this, however. If Apple had made the thing, perhaps they would have included something on the edge of the MacBook to provide a bit of support for the far end to prevent such damage. Bottom line: a good device, but do NOT leave it plugged in all the time -- remove when not in use to minimize risk of mechanical damage.

OtherWorldComputing is advertising a nice USB-C hub for three times the price of this ...
works as advertised. Most importantly: unlike the IVSO hub adapter that only claims it charges the MacBook while also connecting the USB devices, this one actually does it! I was able to connect to two portable HDs and do a hard-wired back-up while charging. OtherWorldComputing is advertising a nice USB-C hub for three times the price of this adapter; though it appears to be more complex, their promised delivery has slipped from September 2015 until today, and still counting... The only drawback of this adapter is that its physical connection to the MacBook, via the USB-C port, is flimsy. One has to be careful not to disconnect it by the sheer weight of the 3 cables attached to it....

Almost, but not quite.
Looks great and quality as almost just as good. Color is just about spot on with the space grey. Unfortunately my G-Drive time machine drive will not work plugged into this hub. Its not getting enough power. Even with the hub and pass thru power plugged in, it will not back up. I just get the battery icon on the screen with the amount charged and nothing else. The G-Drive will only power and work properly when plugged in directly to the USB-C port using the adapter. Otherwise the hub works great with low power peripherals. It gets warm quickly and the fit is a bit loose with just a thumb drive and power plugged in. I feel like with anymore weight in it, the hub would get loose enough and loose connection. Edit: Ended up returning. It runs too hot and doesn't work for what it intended for (use of external HDD and power).

A great product.
A great product. So far, I've only used the USB A connection to transfer data to a new MacBook, but it did what it was supposed to do. I'll be using it for the Micro SD once I get settled in to my new digs. Matches the finish of the Mac well, and has a small indicator light. As to some reviews saying it's not well built, I'd say it fairly well built - if it was built like a tank, it'd be bigger, bulkier and heavier - just treat it with a little respect and you should be fine.

It works, but not reliably.
So this does in fact pass-through charge and works great with other devices plugged into it. The color matches the laptop nicely (I have space grey) and it does allow you to finally have more than one usb cable plugged into it while charging on the 12" Macbook. Here are the problems, however: 1: It will not sit flush along side the computer if you have any kind of case or shell on it. I have a very minimalist plastic shell and the plug will not go in far enough for it to connect unless I flip it around and have it pointing forward which means that it is not supported and it hangs about 1/4 inch off the table pointed forward. 2: When it is plugged in, it works great, but it comes unplugged very easily when trying to attach or detach usb devices, memory cards, etc. I would take care when attaching or removing cables or cards from the device because it has a tendency to unplug from the computer, which means that it will unmount all the hard drives and memory cards plugged and jump drives plugged into it. A couple times now when I have accidentally nudged a cable or the hub, it disconnects suddenly. 3: It gets really hot. It is surprisingly warm after a short period of time. I have not spent a lot of time yet transferring data with it (afraid that it will disconnect suddenly!) but it gets really hot versus the Apple connectors. 4: And this is just a design thing, but why would you put your logo on the bottom of the device? The indicator light that it is plugged in is on the "top" and they put their logo on the bottom... this of course doesn't matter in terms of the device performance, but it is a strange thing to hide your logo on the bottom of a device. So bottom line, I plan to return this. It does not make a reliable enough connection for "real world" use and since just about everyone I know that has the MacBook has some sort of a shell or case on it, this device doesn't connect if you try to attach it the way they designed it. Flipping it around makes it very unstable One solution might be for them to offer 6" usb c male to female cable so that you can connect it with it having to hang off the side of the computer.

Color matches nicely. Sits flush
The product works as advertised, color matches nicely. Sits flush, no stress on the connector with SD cards and flash drivers. Charging through Macbook and operating with devices as iPhone 6 and flash USB 3.0 drives of several kinds, USB 2.0 and 3.0 external Hard Drives and SD cards. However, connecting a USB extension hub (with 4 ports), only the USB 2.0 including flash drives and 3.0 devices HD non flash will work properly, the flash USB 3.0 drives won't work with an extension Hub, due to OS X conflict which I hope it will be fixed with future OS X updates. It's a small delicate adapter so it has to be treated gently, nothing out of the ordinary.

Love this for my Samsung Galaxy Book!
Love this for my Samsung Galaxy Book! As there is no USB slot, this is essential for this tablet. It's very compact but still allows you to connect several devices of varying types. Also love that it has a USB C slot so you can charge your device if there's only 1 USB slot. Great product!

Great unit. Does eject your drives improperly when using the pass through charging option where the cable is removed. Disconnect all drives if using the device to charge through it. Great colour match to the space grey.
