The First Hebrew Reader: Guided Selections from the Hebrew Bible
.**
Excellent. I would recommend to any intermediate students.
Excellent for intermediate students of the Biblical Hebrew. Gives you lots of room to make notes, highlight, etc. It also gives you the breakdown of the words, Ex: person, gender, number, root, meanings of words, tense; and interesting facts at the bottom of the page about words used. It includes a Hebrew-English Glossary at the back of the book, other suggested readings. It takes you from Genesis to Ecclesiastes. It also has repetition of words which really helps when learning new vocabulary. You need about 1year of Hebrew. Caution: some highlighters will bleed a little. You may want to use a Bible Hub (free) app. to help you along the way! In the Hebrew-English Glossary, she has the Hebrew alphabet across the top of the page which helps in looking up words quickly

A great continuation for your studies if you finished the First Hebrew Primer.
This is a great continuational study book for those that have finished The First Hebrew Primer which I recommend to anyone wanting to learn Biblical Hebrew. The Good:-there is a grammatical terms glossary page at the back of the book if you want to know the more latinized names for grammatical terms.-the book opens like a Hebrew book with the spine on the right side when you are looking at the cover. This would seem 'opposite' to most English readers but this is how the Hebrew Tanakh is arranged also so this is good practice.-Good arrangement of new vocabulary.-The grammatical notes are very helpful.-The verb analysis lets you know if you figured out the correct forms of the verbs or not (imperfect, perfect) or if a noun was masculine or singular or 1/2/3 person. The Neutral:-This book is less than half the width of the First Hebrew Primer, but it could still take a long while to get through this book even with finishing 2 pages per day. 2 pages is one study verse(s)(lesson). There are about 172 pages like this, so this is about 86 lessons or 86 verse groups. Three months worth if you do one lesson per day.The Bad:-I have disagreed with some of the gramatical notes, but they are not worth reducing the rating over.-in a few places, the author (either intentionaly or unintentionaly) passes doubt about the scripture's accuracy onto the student. This is why I give this book 4 stars and not 5. They could have done without these negative, doubt causing comments.

very good for grammar study
I used this for my first year Hebrew study. very good for grammar study. I hope I could approach Bible earlier. That is why I give a 4 star instead of 5. My second year Hebrew class uses Biblical Hebrew: Text and Workbook, 2nd Revised by Victoria Hoffer. That book approaches Bible early on. I do appreciate my first year background using this book while second year using the Hoffer book.

I ordered this book after completing The First Hebrew Primer ...
I ordered this book after completing The First Hebrew Primer. Immediately, I felt at home with this book. It is exactly what I need to increase my understanding of Biblical Hebrew. It builds on the foundation that the Primer established and leads me gently into a deeper experience of the language. I am thrilled to be reading Hebrew Scripture.

Excellent teaching tool.
The manner in which it is laid out is great. I particularly like how it breaks down and explains the verb use. The side by side Hebrew-English is very helpful. In fact it is clearer, for me at least, than the Primer. I have just started to really look at it but it promises to be a very good teaching tool.

frist Hebrew reader
This book is a possible next step to the first hebrew primer especially if you are confused when you finish it. It is more reinforcement with a small amount of new material.

good but could be better
The reader is a natural follow-up to the first year grammar, however, I would have liked to see a little more advance syntax added to the tool. Nevertheless I would recommend it to the student who is eager to master their first year grammar and be able to start to read their Hebrew Bible.

First Hebrew Reader
Great! Scripture easy to read, explanations and then if you go to Strong's concordance - you find even more meanings
