Fire Blanket for Home and Kitchen, 39 x 39 Inch Fiberglass, Pull Tabs

I'm 74 years old. I bought this fire blanket last year and I'm so glad I bought it! Last night I was having trouble with getting avocado oil out of a bottle and unbeknownst to me, some had gotten into the burner pan. Then tonight when I had some broccoli on to boil, it suddenly burst into huge flame from the oil in the burner, as tall as the pan. This blanket was right by the stove so my brain already had thought about how to use it in an emergency so I quickly threw it on top of the flaming pan. It took about 1.5 minutes for the flames to smother. I was so grateful the fire was quickly put out, as things were nearby (potholders) that could have caught and spread the flame. Maybe I'll get another one of these things! You can see the burn marks on the blanket, but it can be used again. The only downside is now I have bits of fiberglass on my fingers, but I'll live with that! (The fiberglass fibers worked their way out of my fingers after a couple of hours)

I am a firefighter and had seen the amount of damage a fire extinguisher causes inside a house. I honestly believe the fire extinguisher causes much more damage than extinguishing a fire by cutting off the oxygen. Don't get me wrong I still have fire extinguishers throughout my house but I would absolutely go for one of these fire blankets first. The two pack of these blankets cost a fraction of what one fire extinguisher costs. This is a no brainer to have in the kitchen and the garage. The blanket seems to of good quality. There is a velcro bottom on the sleeve and pull straps that provide an easy point to deploy the blanket. There is a nice grommet on the top of the pouch where I simply screwed it into my cabinet and wall. The blanket inside has some weight to it and it would easily cover a stovetop. There are two handles on the blanket which allow you to spread the blanket out in quick order.

Never thought I'd need it but I did and thank god for it! Hubby was working on his car in the garage when it caught on fire unexpectedly. Threw him the blanket which he opened very quickly and he threw it over the 3 foot flames coming from his hood. The blanket rapidly put the fire out within a couple of seconds. Thank god for this thing! You never know when it's going to be needed. I've ordered about 10 more for gifts and for various rooms in the house. Another plus (albeit not as important) is that this blanket will not damage an engine like a fire extinguisher would. Buy one! But three! Worth every cent.

Reviewing because I finally "got" to use this. Worked to keep an oven fire from spreading and got rid of smoke coming through the oven vents! That's pretty good! 4 stars because I got fiberglass shards really close to my eyes after using this and was just lucky that none got in my eyes!!!! So, when you use this, beware that you'll have fiberglass embedded in you and floating all over the floor / counters / and air from opening this, so if you have a few seconds to think through it, try to be a little careful in how you touch this thing and don't do what I did and just quickly shake it open! You'll risk a doc visit. :/

Important to have around! Giving to all of my family and friends!

I keep it right by my fireplace just in case. Easy to get out of Package. Hopefully we’ll never have to use in an emergency.

I haven't needed to use the product so I can't rate it & hopefully I will never have to use it. But I am glad I have it in case that day comes when it's necessary to use. One thing I can share I feel better & somewhat secure because I have it. You know, it's like when you criticize people because they have a cell phone & the day you get one you can actually feel the security of having it in case the day comes that you may need it☺

I've always had fire extinguishers in my kitchen and garage. It helps lower my home insurance and I just think it's safe. I love this blanket because it's going to be very easy to use should it be needed and it will not expire like a fire extinguisher. I bought some starting magnet clips from Dollar Tree and hang it from my refrigerator where it is out of normal view but easy to access. Firefighters are recommending these products over fire extinguishers more and more. Safety first.
