Passing The Bar Box Set

Great game. A buddy and I would play this while doing our bar prep for the California bar. Turns out to be a great drinking game and we both passed the bar on our first try.

So I graduated law school and my mother, an attorney, decided to get me this as a fun graduation/bar study gift. After getting the game, I decided to play a round or two with some friends. There was me (a law grad), my good friend (a law student), and everyone else. So we decided to split up into three teams. I was alone and so was my friend. Everyone else joined together and were able to use a computer to assist with answers. Needless to say with the timer, board movement was slow. My friend and I had a blast, but it appeared to bore everyone else.I only used it a couple times when my friend was over between graduation and the bar exam. I doubt it helped me study for the bar exam much. It certainly did not hurt. It is a fun, yet practical way of taking your mind almost completely off the realities of the bar exam. I passed the exam, but haven't played Passing the Bar since. I do, however, find myself now wanting to play another round...

The scenarios I read were not entertaining like Law in a Flash cards. The scenarios were tedious and complex so that I could not use it to teach community college students.

The game may be "fun" for law students, and I am a law student so I enjoy it for reviewing. My husband thinks it's totally lame but he finds the flash card questions interesting.

Basically, this product is as advertised: fun for law school grads studying for the bar, but not so much for anyone that isn't going to take the bar. Us non law school grads can only seem to compete if we get all "Justice" questions and the occasional tort question, but we end up getting clobbered most of the time. My girlfriend has enjoyed the game and has mop up duty for all of the questions we miss.

I bought this to supplement my bar exam studying. Some of the questions are in a format that that the MBE no longer uses, but the game is a good way to study without feeling tied to your desk and notes. The game would also be helpful for students who are still in law school and want to challenge their knowledge of certain subjects.
