4-pin 40/30Amp 12V DC Waterproof Automotive Relay with Heavy-Duty Wire

Working fine after a year of use. My hot lead off the Jeeps 12v battery to power the small compressor for the airbags on my motorcycle trailer.

I installed an aftermarket infotainment console, which also has a reverse camera. Everything was working, but upon putting the vehicle in reverse resulted in a black screen with “Rear camera lost signal!”. For my vehicle the issue was the reverse camera simply had inadequate power supply. The voltage to the camera was not consistent. Therefore, I had to use a relay. I purchased this 4-pin 30 amp 12V relay and made the following connections. 30 (red) - battery positive 85 (black) - ground and camera negative, black wire on power cable 86 (white) - reverse light positive and camera trigger wire on RCA cable 87 (blue) - camera positive, red wire on power cable Overall, this was a straightforward fix at a reasonable cost. Highly recommend if you are having similar issue with your reverse camera.

FOR BEGINNERS: I bought this to fix the factory issue of the cigarette lighter staying always powered and killing the battery when you forget things plugged in on my wife’s 2012 Ford Escape. For those doing something similar you basically cut the power wire for the power outlet between the junction box/fuse and the load (that way you don’t alter the circuit protection since you’re past the fuse), install the relay in series with the power supply to the outlet. The white wire is the trigger for the relay, so for what I’m trying to accomplish, that one goes in parallel with a “key on” only circuit, and finally black wire goes to a common ground. So now, my cigarette lighter only gets power when it sees that 12V from a key on only circuit without having to worry about fuses and taking amperage from other circuits. Worked perfectly. Do not worry if the relay wires are thicker than the circuit wires you’re installing it to, it just can’t be the other way around, that’s why they make them pretty thick.

Heavy duty solid built relay.

Bought to use on my classic Volkswagen as a "Hard Start" relay. Love the durable weather-proof case it has the generous amount of wire that the loom has for you to work with. It was easy to install into the car and the individual pin numbers on the relay were easy to identify for wiring. Great relay for the money and would definitely recommend it for weather sensitive applications.
