Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 8GB

I bought this for a media center. works great with libreelec, which incorporates Kodi. I have an 8 TB powered HD formatted to NTFS, with movies, music, and pictures on it. I connected it to my router, and have an HDMI cable directly to a smart TV. I use the KODI remote app on an android phone to access it.

I used the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (8GB) to build a RAID 5 network attached storage array, and it has exceeded expectations. The Pi handled the setup with four 8TB drives smoothly, providing both reliability and flexibility for my storage needs. With its processing power and memory, it’s capable of managing the array while still running efficiently. To house the drives and keep everything organized, I built a custom chassis using Feleph building blocks. This gave me enough space to include the Raspberry Pi, a USB hub, and cable management, making the project both functional and fun to assemble. The Pi integrates seamlessly with the hardware, and the system has been running without issues. The Rasperry Pi series of board have set a new standard for do it yourself electronic projects. The exposed and very well documented GPIO pins provide so much potential. In terms of disliked items: * It is odd they made it to the fourth generation still without provided an on/off button (finally resolved in the recently announced 5th gen). * No DDR RAM slot. While the amount of storage can be expanded with an sd card, all the RAM the board will ever have is hard soldered on. Overall, it provides a lot of value at the $100 price point.

I received item on time and exactly what was advertised. Checked memory chip id number D9ZCL indicating for a 8gb chip. Did not do a 5 looked new but wanted to do power on tests first before I complete my review.

I run BirdNetPi. It has not been updated yet, so the Pi 4b is still necessary. I'm not sure if the extra memory makes a difference.

I bought this unit to act as a NAS server for my home network. I use Samba software and two USB drives and it works great. It was pretty easy to set up, but I have a couple of years experience with Linux. However, if I buy another Raspberry PI, it will be as a kit rather than buying a separate case, SD card, and power supply.

En general la tarjeta funciona muy bien. Pero tiene 2 puertos USB 3.0 y al parecer comparten canal de datos, ya que si conectas dos dispositivos (uno en cada puerto) la respuesta es muy lenta. Lo mismo pasa con los otros dos puertos USB 2.0. Es decir, en realidad recomiendo que solo uses 1 puerto de cada versión.

Took a chance in purchasing this Raspberry PI 4, The pictures indicated on the Amazon page are confusing. So glad that this is the one I needed am very happy with my purchase.. This is a really great learning tool one can make it anything you like it to be. There are so many uses for it. The customer service is really excellent, they answered my questions within 4 hours.
