JBL FLIP 5 Portable Speaker IPX7 Waterproof On-The-Go Bundle with WRP Deluxe Hardshell Case (Blue)

My ex-gf had the flip 4 which I always thought sounded tinny and unpleasant in the highs, though its position on top of the fridge may have contributed to that.When I moved out I had a choice to order the 4 or 5, and saw reviews indicating that the 5 is better. It probably is. The bass extension is crazy considering how small it is. The battery meter is great, it feels good in your hand, easy to charge and change volume and everything, and I felt like a pro using it after the 1st time I turned it on. Really helped me get over the breakup.The 4 has two speakers straddling the logo, whereas the 5 has one speaker. (Kind of like how my gf and I were a couple when we used the Flip 4 and now I'm flying solo with the Flip 5.)I've noticed that there is a discrepancy in level between mid & sides; you hear much more mid than sides in music that has a lot of stereo information. (Kind of like how she ran the show and was always the center of attention, while I was always sidelined and minimized in our life together.) Most of the time this isn't a big deal because I use this device mainly for podcasts, and I have to say it makes a human voice sound very full and natural. (Much more full and natural than my voice was in our relationship, where everything I said was disregarded and the truth of my reality was rarely if ever acknowledged.)Whereas the 2 speakers in the flip 4 may have provided better stereo, they probably also made the audio feel more centered in the device. (Even though I never felt centered in our relationship; or even really in mySELF when I was in the relationship.) When I wasn't hearing enough stereo information compared to other listening systems, I started to wonder if my unit was defective, (like our relationship was, though that took me almost 4 years to realize) and the fact that the audio apparently comes mostly from the left side of the device helped feed my paranoia in that regard. (Kind of like the paranoia she had that my previous ex and I were going to get back together, or that I would have an affair with one of my clients, despite the fact I was constantly begging her to see me and acknowledge me; clearly desperately in love with her if only she would realize it and open up to the love that was right there.) You only notice this if your head is right up next to it so it probably will not matter almost any of the time. (Unlike the problems in our relationship, which were loud and clear the whole time if only I had listened to them sooner.)Water resistant?: I've hung it from a shower curtain ring on the inside of the tub with me a few times and it hasn't died. It spends most of its time 3 feet away from the kitchen sink but I haven't really carried it through the rain or anything like that. (We never showered together even though that's a playful kind of foreplay I've always liked. She wasn't into it.)I think you get stereo when you link two of these things together, which I also believe is easily accomplished by hitting the link button which sits right on top, first in the order of control buttons, before volume decrease, volume increse, and play/pause. While that might sound really good, it seems kind of ridiculous to carry two of these around, (kind of like staying in an unreciprocated love relationship indefinitely) or turn on and charge two of them all the time for use in the kitchen. I'd rather spend twice as much for a better one, (or just remain alone, where at least my loneliness isn't enforced by the feeling that I have been "claimed" and maybe one day I can find a more loving and interdependent romantic relationship even though I'm starting to get a little long in the tooth) and having that linking button so prominent kind of feels like this unit is trying to sell me more of itself when I use it.Maybe a firmware upgrade could solve the stereo issue, (kind of like how couples therapy might have helped our relationship if only she'd been willing to give it a shot) or we can just say this thing is "fine and dandy for most people most of the time," and it truly does excel with podcasts.

I love this speaker! Great sound for such a small device. I love the carrying strap and the case. Battery life is great and it’s super easy to use. It doesn’t sound as good in a larger space, but that is because of its small size. For listening to music in a small to medium home/travel setting, you can’t go wrong with this speaker! It fits perfectly in the side pocket of my backpack while airplane traveling!

Speaker is everything I knew them to be but wasn’t sure having not owned one until now. It is well worth the money spent and the time waiting for delivery. I am so impressed with this product and will order again if ever anything happens to the one I just purchased and will recommend to anyone !!

I've been happily using the JBL Clip 4 for a while, but I have been looking to upgrade to a slightly bigger and better portable speaker for camping. This is the one! Great battery life, solid sound quality and volume for the price.

I've owned the predecessor for yours, and this newest model is even better yet, but it doesn't have a mini plug connector which I miss.

La bocina se escucha muy bien, el empaque se veía nuevo sin embargo el cable de carga está oxidado, por tal motivo voy a devolverlo porque eso me hace pensar que en un futuro la bocina puede tener falla. Veré si la compro de nuevo.

La he estado usando por algunos días pero me ha gustado mucho.Excelente compra en cuanto a calidad, sonido y diseño. Simple, si van a comprar un altavoz en ese rango de precio, no lo piensen, que sea esta opción y que incluya la funda. ;)
