Good for being just an open package unused.
Good product for being opened and probably sold cheap because it was an open package. Lock fits just like the original and works great.

Not the same quality as the original Perko!
I gave this a five star initially. When I installed it the strike would slip back to closed position when you attempted to open the door. I opened the lock and found the cam that pulls back the strike was poorly cast from pot metal. There are 2 shoulders that engage the strike, one was not square which encourages the strike to pop over the cam shoulder. I was able to carve the shoulder square so it is now working but the width of the cam is also a sloppy fit. I also learned this deadbolt strike is not tamper proof and can be simply pushed open with a knife. After all this I will have to install a hasp and padlock on my beautiful mahogany door.

Disappointing, First one failed and locked my girlfriend and dog in boat. Dangerous at best.
A marine lock should be well built, significantly well built, especially one that is used for vessel entry e.g. door lock with key. The first one we replaced failed in < 3 months and locked my girlfriend and dog in the aft cabin of our boat we live aboard. It took me plently long enough to get the lock pryed open without destroying the aft cabin cockpit door and woodwork. I am an ABYC Certified Master Marine Tech and own my own marine business, so I am pretty good at installing marine products. Nothing is off the shelf and nearly everything needs to be customized. Well, this lock could have resulted in a law suit if there had been a fire on the vessel and locked my girlfriend and dog in the boat. I search for alternatives, and it is difficult to find a similar sized lock, so in the meantime I was so reluctant to purchase another lock from Perko. I am super critical and look at how things are made and I am super disappointed, but not surprised. You can see the defects in their casting process in the photo provided. Either they don't care or don't have any meaningful quality control or both. I am using this as a stop gap solution. The metal fabrication is abysmal. If you can avoid these locks do so it may save your life. I am also a USCG Captain/Master - I would rather take on water on a vessel vs. having a fire, and we have plenty of fire extinguishers aboard, however - I am also retired Firefighter/EMT and know how quickly fires overwhelm a small area, especially a confined area. I have purchased a small sledge hammer to knock the lock out if it fails again in the meantime and is placed by the main ingress/egress door on our vessel. That's how little I trust this lock. Avoid this one like the coronavirus.
