... JUST a phone! No complications ... No contracts!
Okay, this review is for people who are looking for JUST a phone! This flip phone has no internet and doesn't even have the capability for it so if that is a must then you can stop reading here and move on. (Lively DOES make a simple smart-phone but I never used it so I cannot comment on any of its features or functionality.) HOWEVER, if you are looking to have a phone just to keep in contact with others through a call or a simple text or for an emergency situation ... THIS is your phone! I was skeptical at first but after quite a few years and having switched over myself, my husband, AND my son I think I speak for my whole family in saying that this is a great product! My family has computers and tablets and smart TVs all over the house and we use them frequently ... but all we really needed out of a cell phone was the phone part. Going somewhere and paying potentially THOUSANDS of dollars for a phone seemed silly so after looking around and seeing TV commercials I decided to give Lively and their Jitterbug phone a chance. Not disappointed! In my area, (N.J.), we've always been with Verizon service and there didn't seem to be any difference in call quality or reception when we switched to Lively. The phone is simple and intuitive with easy menus and large, easy-to-read text. You do have the ability to store contacts, take photos and videos, block numbers, have Voicemail, set alarms, and send text messages. Since it is a flip phone, to text you have to do the old 1990's phone thing of pressing each button a few times to get the right letter ... so if you wanted the letter "C" you'd have to press the number 2 button 3 times to go from A to B to C ... if you're older you know and if you're younger you will learn quickly! ;-) The sound quality is loud and clear and the battery life will easily last all day and then you just plug it in or throw it in the charging cradle at night. The service per month is very inexpensive. For unlimited talk and text I pay around $27 per month. The phone itself is YOURS! You'll pay whatever the price is ... at the time of this review on AMAZON it was $35 for the red flip ... and the phone is yours ... NO contracts, NO payments, no nothing! If your phone breaks you can EASILY get a new phone for WAY cheaper than you'd pay to have someone even look to repair your current smart phone! If your worried about having a brand new number don't be! It is VERY likely you will be able to transfer your old cell number ... or even your house landline number, if you still have one, to your new flip phone just do NOT stop your current cell service until you have transferred the number to THIS phone!!! If you DO buy this phone and want to transfer your number just have your current phone statement handy when you call to activate your new phone. Lively Customer Service is easy like Sunday morning! I don't think in all the times I called, which was mostly to activate new phones, have I ever waited on hold for longer than a minute or two. All reps that I have spoken with are polite and easy to understand. So if you want a MUCH less complicated phone ... don't need/want all that internet stuff (Which you can easily do from home on a real computer or laptop) ... want to pay LESS for the physical phone and the plan and don't want to be locked into a contract ... then THIS is your phone!!! TRY IT ... it has a lot of value for the price and I think you'll be hooked if you give it a chance! Hope you enjoy your purchase ... be safe and God Bless!!!

Excellent phone, easy to use, and great for seniors!
I bought this for my 81 year old mom who has struggled with iPhones and Samsung Galaxy. It was a great decision. She is able to work it with no problems. The buttons are large and the display text is bold and bright. The texting is old school (press a button 3 times to get one letter), but she doesn’t text anyway. She has got the hang of taking pictures as well and they are actually pretty nice and sharp. She has problems with her hearing but says she can hear everyone now crystal clear. There are a few plans available with Lively but I got her the one with unlimited talk and text and it is under $30 a month compared to over $100 I was paying for her phone before. I would recommend this as an easy to use phone for anyone, especially seniors.

Fairly easy to use, but previous generation software was simpler
I bought this phone as a replacement for my elderly mother whose 1st generation Greatcall Flip’s battery was dying. The hardware is almost exactly the same except for some different wording on the buttons. The software is also similar, except for placing a call. Unless you set up one touch dialing, the number of steps to just call a contact has increased vs the first generation phone. For a savvy user this is not a problem. For an elderly person that is not that into technology, that’s a problem. I don’t understand why they would make this most basic operation more complicated for a product specifically tailored to an elderly audience; this is supposed to be their area of expertise. However, we set up one touch dialing to overcome this complication. The rest of the phone is great. So one star demerit for making contact calling more complicated when not using one-touch dialing. Otherwise a great product.

Perfect for my Uncle!
I bought this Jitterbug for my uncle, and it has been a total game-changer. He was always frustrated by complicated smartphones, but this one is amazingly user-friendly. Easy to Use: Huge, readable screen text and simple menus. Clear Audio: Crisp sound that works great with his hearing aids. Safety First: The built-in 5Star Urgent Response button gives our entire family complete peace of mind. Reliable: Long battery life and no complicated settings to mess up accidentally. It restored his confidence and keeps him safely connected. If you need a hassle-free phone for a senior relative, this is it!

volume level keeps shifting
Good but not Great. The user interface tries to do too many things: take pictures, videos, do text messages, check voice mail, check missed calls . . . Seniors need a phone that does one thing GREAT (make phone calls) and move everything else to the back burner, still available, but buried away in the menus for savy Seniors who feel like exploring bonus features. There are so many things they could have done to make phone calling easier. This is actually better than other flip phones, but not as much as hoped for. I'd suggest they make the call menu top priority for the phone, scroll down and have the contact names right there, then press okay and it immediately calls that contact. To do anything else should require navigating through the MENU which could be at the top, right above all the contact names. Easy, problem solved, and many more aging seniors would be able to use it. ----EDIT---- My mother is constantly accidentally turning the volume down (pressing the buttons on the side) and then saying things like "I can't hear you I can't hear you I can't hear you" and has difficulty figuring out she needs to turn the volume back up. subtracting another star. surprisingly difficult for her to use this phone ---REEDIT -- this is an AWFUL PHONE, Mom and I can't figure out how to adjust the ringer volumn up, I tried to talk to her on another phone telling her which button to press, the volumn button on the side that the manual clearly specifies, didn't work, she actually got it to drop down to silent. 0 stars now, if can't figure it out will have to cancel ---Re-REedit 3rd time -- Mom still can't figure out how to adjust the ringer volume. It arbitrarily gets set to Ringer-OFF (I suspect from hitting the side buttons by accident) then the phone does't ring and she doesn't answer it, and when she tries to adjust the volumn while I'm on the phone with her, when I tell her how, she adjusts the Conversation-Volume. The folks at Jitterbug need to get a phone design that's not prone to senior citizens accidently pressing the ringer volume to OFF. It's more than a head-ache, it causes her to NOT HEAR THE PHONE RING. sure, young folks can figure out what's going on, and try not to do it again, but elderly seniors don't learn from past mistakes and cant figure things out easily. I have to give this phone an F rating, bad design of ringer volume and conversation volume on the side, too easy to accidentally press. okay for seniors with sharp minds, and elderly . . . but folks, this is a "jitterbug" F

First phone great second won’t connect
The first phone was great. Needed another and second phone won’t connect so had to return. Trying a third time. Good phone great service except that I can’t use the second one. How do you rate that? Gave it 3 stars due to great customer service and good experience with first phone

Really big buttons and no Video option
I bought this prodcut for my kids due to a new custody rule of mandatory phone calls. It has big buttons and no video capabilyt. I feel the new rule for custody is crazy since they marked domestic violence and now forcing 4 phone calls per week. This actually protects my privacy and gives me peace of mind. I purchased a no extra minute plan for it. So about $20 per month for 300 talk minutes.

Perfect basic phone for senior dumb phone is safe to use
Awesome dumb phone for senior! It’s a phone and text. It’s PERFECT for the seniors like my mom who mess up the phone by trying to find or fix or explore and end up messing up all the options and too complicated for seniors. It’s perfect for paranoid because there is no internet it’s great. The star service is perfect and they answer immediately and help. I highly recommend this for family who keep messing up phones trying to figure them out or messing with the settings or have difficulty answering or hanging up phones this is EXCELLENT FOR SENIORS!
