That is also true of the BeautyWill sharpener.I was very pleased with the sharpener so I decided to purchase an additional one to give to my daughter because her knives are not high quality and very dull.My confusion comes in that when I compare the two sharpeners (BeautyWill and Sage) they are identical twins as far as size, shape, dimension, the three different sharpeners right down to the font of the imprint on the metal! They both appear to have been manufactured at the same place.There are only three exceptions to their being identical.One was the brand name on them. Another was the packaging. Finally was the usage instructions.The box the BeautyWill came in was plain white with a small flyer inside explaining how to use it. The Sage comes in a nice colored box with the instructions printed on the outside.The usage instructions differed in that the BeautyWill, to my surprise, says that if you are sharpening a metal knife, to use the ceramic first, then coarse and fine lastly. The Sage says not to use metal knives in the ceramic portion.I'm confused. Are you? They appear to be identical.All I know, as I stated in my review of the BeautyWill is that (using all three slots) it works wonders. I assume this will also.The Sage is less expensive than the BeautyWill and comes in a nice presentation box when compared to a white box.As far as whether to use the ceramic on metal or not, your guess is as good as mine.Great sharpener. Before it arrives, you will receive an informative email from the company explaining: "You will find instructions for use and cleaning your Sage Knife Sharpener ON THE BOX it arrives in.Tip: One precaution, please DO NOT use the sharpener to sharpen serrated knives or scissors as it can damage them." They will also do a follow up a few days later to make sure everything is ok. Good company service with a quality product.
