Will this measure a water tank level? Example a 20’ tank to see how far water in down

I tested it on my pool and it does not read the surface of the water. It will give a measurement of the bottom of the pool if the water is glass calm, but only about 50% of the time. You could use it's triangle feature using two measurements to find the third by taking a measurement across, then a measurement just above the water on the opposite side to make two parts of a triangle, and it will calculate the water level from the surface. does it measure only inch or also in meters?

Is it accurate outdoor in bright light?

I have two problems outdoors: 1. It is very hard to see laser dot even at 15 ft. 2. The display is almost impossible to see in daylight conditions without cupping in you hand or in shadow.
