This book is basically the movie in book form down to every action scene and detail. It would be for an older reading level. I would say this book is suitable for an avid reader around 10-12 years of age but an average reader aged 12-14 years old. As an adult I struggled with some of the names in the book having not watched the movie. The story is started with a 12 year old Raya, who lives in Heart with her father. When her father is turned to stone she sets out on a journey to find the last dragon, Sisudatu, in hopes that she can restore life. There are no pictures besides a few pages (8-10ish) with images taken from the movie. There is a small fold out poster in the back of the book that is perforated and can be removed. We enjoyed the book and I feel like it made me and my kids appreciate the movie more. I caught more of the small details in the movie that I likely wouldn’t have picked up on without reading the book first. Review: Amazing - We ended up reading this after we watched the movie (quite a few times lol) and it was so cool reading the book instead. I felt like they did a lot more detail in certain parts, and since we already watched the movie it was super easy to picture what was going on.
