Is this a time released caprylic acid?

No, this is not a timed release pill. However, I have never had a problem with non-time released caprylic acid. It stays in the digestive tract a long time and very minimal amounts are absorbed by the body. This is a good thing, because the point of taking caprylic acid pills is too reduce fungal growth in the digestive tract without disturbing the rest of the body. (However, reducing fungal growth in the digestive tract tends to reduce the amount of fungus growing in the rest of the body, because many fungal infections start in the digestive tract - especially when taking antibiotics.) Note: the manufacturers suggest using it twice a day. Taking caprylic acid once in the morning and once in the evening maintains a pretty steady amount of caprylic acid in the digestive tract.

Is this better than a "cocktail" supplement like now foods candida clear?

I tried the candida clear first and wasn't very impressed. This actually is the only thing that has worked since I started trying to aggressively treat my candida. My heartburn finally went away (it started the month I got sick) within 3 weeks of starting them twice a day. I have steadily gotten better since. These are 1/4 the price of the other cocktail I was taking.
