This will definitely do the job. I love how it has the raised rubber corners this will help when using it in tablet mode for writing and lectures.The case is very snug and looks sharp. I really like how it has the keyboard protector as well. One cool feature is the magnetic for keeping it closed for transport. Some of my courses are a half mile walk from my office, it will be a comfort knowing my keyboard and surface are well protected riding in my backpack or satchel.One downside, if you could call it that, is how hard it is to use the kickstand. You have to pull the two corners free from the tablet but once you've d I'll ne that it operates as normal. The reason I'm still giving 5 stars, is that the case should be very secure and durable. In addition to the normal computer tasks folks would use the Surface for, I also use this for downloading and analyzing on track data from my racecar. I wanted something to protect the housing out there in the paddock. This is perfect.I am not sure I get what the issues are some folks mention about fit and usability. It fits and works well (keyboard flips down, stand opens fine). I do get the issue with exposed corners when using the Surface stand. But for using in tablet mode this is a good option with great protection.There is a method I use to open the cover to use the stand. Place the unit on your lap keyboard cover down, with the word "Surface" facing you. Lift the unit so it it upright "Surface" away from you, hold at corner with thumbs on ridges, push open with thumbs. It's tight, but you get used to it. push the rubber ridges out and forward, don't bend/force the Surface housing. Closing you have to push the rubber corners back over the Surface housing. Sounds more complicated than it is, and yeah it's not as "foolproof" as it should be...but it works:) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Volume control rocker, USB and Display connector access holes do not align. The new case fits my Surface Pro 3 properly. All ports, switches and vents align correctly. I replaced the photos with the proper replacement case images.I will say that opening the case, specifically releasing the seal to open the kickstand is challenging. It's very tight. It's fine, but tight. I think it'll stay closed properly upon a drop, and that's a good thing. However it sure does take some deliberate force in the well-marked edge seal area to open the stand. I'm thinking it will loosen a bit over time, and with some practice. Thanks for solving the problem Otterbox!===Original review===As soon as I did a test fit, I called Otterbox support and they have a warranty replacement in process for me. That said, the Symmetry Series cover for Microsoft Surface Pro 3 I received is the correct overall size and basic operation, and yet, is simply not correct, aka way off in a few areas of essential control access. The volume control rocker, left edge is not accessible, the headset connector is fine. The top left edge power button is good, but has a rocker switch for a non-existent (volume?) control. The right edge access to USB and display connection openings are misaligned. Everything else about it fits nicely. Even the keyboard cover piece fits well. The photos tell the full story.In any case, every company gets a chance to fix mistakes in my book. I'll see what the replacement from Otterbox looks like when it arrives and will update my review.
