Black Diamond ATC-Xp Belay/Rappel Device

Works great with my 10.5mm rope. Slow descents which I prefer. Nice anodized finish too. No issues to report at this time 🤙

Simple, inexpensive, functional, and light. What's not to love? And it works with both the 11+mm gym ropes you are likely to encounter as well as 9mm lead climbing ropes.I also own an XP Guide and much prefer the ATC XP for gym use. The rope slots in the Guide are narrower for some reason and it does not work well with fat gym ropes. So unless you actually intend to top belay someone, this is what you want.

I started with one like this and bought another. Its great and reliable. Really good for beginners so when I go with newbys that don't have their own equipment, I let them borrow this one. Can't go wrong with these.

I don't rock climb but I did use this for a DIY solar install to protect myself while on a 2-story roof. After a few youtube videos I was able to quickly do the tie-off belay knot where you stop the rope at a fixed length.

After trying a buddy's I had to get one. Compared to my Edelrid Jul Sport the feeding was so much smoother and the feel was overall more confident. Braking performance is consistent and it's very light. Probably one of the best tube style belay devices on the market.

No complaints about this device. It does what it's meant to. If the user knows what they're doing, no problems should be encountered.Nothing special about this non-locking belay device.

High quality product, as one would expect from Black Diamond. Worked well with 10mm rope for rappelling. Would recommend for versatility and ease of use.

I go indoor rock climbing every weekend and I noticed my old ATC was getting worn slightly so decided to invest in a new one. Black Diamond's always been a good brand in my eyes and this item's no different.Holds steady even when there's a pretty big difference in weight between belayer and climber (basically I'm overweight), metal feels really solid and I've been trusting my life to it for the past few weeks now.

Excellent quality item, only used once but I'm still alive, so that's got to be a good thing! Friction could be slightly higher, but I've been told one can use 2 biners under it instead of one to help with this. Overall, very impressed

Great belay device, brought for my son. He loves it!

Works exact as it should. May be challenging for a lighter climber to belay a heavier one, when it may sometimes stick.
