Q: Is there any reason for different colors, other than personal preference?

I would think personal preference. I got the pink for the leashes for my female Boxer dogs...the light is pink and real pretty.

Q: Will the Velcro hold these on shoes without bouncing around when running?

I think so I use it on my dog's harnest when walking and it stays on when he is running around. I would give it a try. The light is very bright which very visible when used at night or before dawn in morning. I like it lot and think it is a good buy.

Q: Will this work with a martingale collar?

It will certainly attach to a martingale collar, either using the clip on the light or using the Velcro elastic ties which comes with the lights. (I only know what a martingale collar is because i had a greyhound a few years ago.)
