Exactly as Expected!
Ordered these socks to address persistent swelling in my right leg. I also have some varicosity which is a concern. I am very particular about how clothing "feels" and especially socks that I work in. Wearing these with steel-toed work boots in moderate heat was not a problem at all. They work extremely well and I can really tell a difference in how my legs feel after a long day on my feet. I ordered a large since I am a larger guy and wear a size 12+ shoe. They are a little long on me (I'm 5-10) and come up on my knee a little. There is really no way to "shorten" them, but the top band is very comfortable, even falling in the middle of the knee joint in the back.I wore these two days in a row and they were still fairly fresh. If they hold up well to washing, I will be extremely pleased. I've already ordered two more pair, and will order more if they hold up to wear.Highly recommended (by one of the fussiest people about socks you'll ever meet).UPDATE: After 5 months of wear, these socks have held up better than expected. They haven't stretched out at all. But I don't wash these in hot water or use any bleach, so that helps I think. On the other hand, they don't come really clean. Perhaps if I used a little all-fabric bleach they'd come cleaner, but I don't want to risk damaging them.

Quite Pleased
Last year, a tractor ran over my legs. In the process, my legs suffered nerve damage and soft tissue damage. I experienced quite a bit of ongoing swelling in my right leg. In addition, I would occasionally experience pain in my right foot and ankle even though the tires ran over my knee area. I also started experiencing quite a bit of swelling in my foot-ankle area. I decided to go to a Neurologist to see if he could diagnose the foot-ankle pain and swelling. He did a thorough examination and told me that the cause of the pain and swelling was damage to the lymphatic vessels which allowed the lymphatic fluid to go down my leg but interfered with its ability to flow back up. The swelling caused pressure on nerves which caused the pain. He gave me a subscription for knee-high support socks which I used to purchase a more expensive dress sock. After I started using them, I experienced no more pain and the swelling started to decrease. I did a search on Amazon for a more heavy duty sock at a hopefully less expensive price and found the Activa 20-30 socks which seemed to fit the bill. I ordered them and have been using them for a few weeks, primarily on weekends. I find them to be very comfortable, and they give me the same support that the more expensive socks gave. I am pleased with them and expect to purchase more in the future.

Marketed for sports, not "medical use" I think.
I'm giving this a 4, but I'm "grading on a curve". If you want something really comfortable, you don't want compression stockings. However, when you need 20-30 mg compression stockings, these are the most comfortable ones I have found.I first got no advice from any of my doctors on compression stockings, except 20-30 mg. I bought some Jobst, because someone mentioned the name. I also bought these, just before I saw a doctor who knew what he was talking about. He said the Jobst was a good brand, but for comfort, I would want cotton when it gets hot, and you have to wear them all day, while the Jobst are almost 100% nylon. He also told me I was going to have to wear compression stockings for the rest of my life, and unless I'm in the shower or horizontal, I should have them on so comfort matters to me!The ones I found that had the most cotton, are from Sigvaris, and are over $60.00 discounted price. And they are very thick! And to make up for the cotton they are ribbed, quite deeply, which I find more uncomfortable. By the end of the day, it shows as marks on my skin. These are just slightly ribbed, so the marks go away pretty quickly, are not as thick around the foot, and don't feel as hot. The nylon Jobst ones are smooth, but if you get sweaty, you stay sweaty.I marked these down because as I say they are not "medical grade", and the reason I say that is because you order them by the shoe size alone. The other two I mentioned, have a lot more sizes because you measure your ankle and your calf diameters, and the height to your knee.On the other hand, these are quite comfortable, don't slip down much, and for occasional use, during sports or the like, these are probably great! I probably shouldn't be wearing them as much as I do, but I cheat a bit because I figure if I'm sitting most of the day, they are probably good enough, and much more comfortable than the others, while still feeling as tight and supportive.

effective good fitting support socks
Having problems with swelling and discoloration in my lower legs, I am happy to say that these socks are very effective in keeping swelling to a minimum. One problem area for me has been the ankles which some socks do not compress enough due to the nearby heel construction. These Activa socks are very effective in this area. The socks are quite comfortable and the CoolMax happily wicks off moisture and keeps the feet dry even in Louisiana August temperatures. I wear them comfortably all day. Also very effective in eliminating aching in the legs. They really look and feel like long athletic socks. I am glad that I was attracted to try them because they were priced lower than some competitors.

Great product.
I have been buying these socks for years for vein issues. Really like them. Only problem is as they get older the fabric starts to turn grey, even though they are always washed with just whites and whitening products. Aside from that issue, they are great and I will continue to buy them. Very comfortable and durable.

Never Again
In my previous job I measured for compression socks daily. I have bought compression socks before and thought these are less expensive then my regular brand, I'll give them a try. Never again will I buy they had a snag in them out of the box & the sizing was way off. I'm going back to my old brand.

I was very pleased with these support socks. You cannot seem to get them in white in this country you are only able to obtain black or natural ones.
