Great counter for the price, but instructions are in Chinese.
This is a great little counter and works reliably. We bought it to measure the distance my daughter's hamster runs on his hamster wheel every night (shockingly, over 12 miles!). The sensor seems to be of good quality and is reliably triggered by the supplied magnet at a distance of 0.5 inches, which is fine for most uses. I tested it with a much larger magnet I have and the sensor triggered at nearly 4 inches. The only issue we had is with the auto-off feature. Sometimes it turns itself off after 15 minutes or so and sometimes it doesn't. For our purposes, we wanted it to stay on all night. I assume there is a setting to control that feature that we are accidentally turning on and off somehow but I can't be certain because the instructions are in Chinese. Other than that, it's easy to set up and use. It also has terminals on the back that seem to be for connecting a remote reset switch, but we didn't need that function. Batteries are included and pre-installed.

Exactly what I needed to measure yarn yardage.
I built myself a floor swift and mounted the counter with its sensor and magnet. It counts the yardage perfectly. It is so nice to not have to count to myself as I can get easily distracted and lose count. The counter eliminates that for me. It was hard to locate the right type and at an affordable price that I needed, but Walah, Amazon came through again. I actually purchased two but from different companys. Amost identical. Its extremely easy to install. Note: When connecting the two wires on the back of the counter, the red is positive and the blue is negative. Also, I do love that the unit operates on a battery. This way I do not have to be tethered to an electrical plug and can move my swift anywhere I want it.

Purchased to count rings manufactured on a Chinese made ring making machine.
I purchased this to track production on a ring making machine. This was definitely not designed for what I needed it for. It took a little time and thought to fabricate the brackets that my machine needed to use this. So far it has been very accurate and easy to use for my production personnel. If and when this one dies I would not hesitate to purchase another one.

Sensor works but machine doesn’t count.
The Reed sensor works fine, and you can hear an audible click when the magnet passes it, but no matter what wiring configuration I try, the counter simply doesn’t count unless you hold the magnet to the sensor for at least a second, and even that is unreliable. Do not buy this.
