Miele Original B 990 Rotary Iron with Wide Heater Plate, 120 V

We have summer guest cabins: I have at least 15 pillowcases to iron a week, and I've got some 100% cotton sheets I never use because they need ironing to look good. This Miele Rotary Iron is easy to operate, and I feel very special while I'm using it. Yes, it makes me feel like I'm rich. It does an excellent job, exactly what I wanted. You have to pre-dampen the laundry, but I was doing that anyway: spray with water, roll up and put in a plastic bag for a bit so the dampness evens out. It was much wider than I expected because I didn't read the specs before ordering, I just knew I wanted one. I thought it'd be about 18 - 20 inches wide, but it's 38 inches wide (folds down to 20 inches for storage). This width is wonderful because that's what makes it a serious piece of equipment, not some little Suzy Homemaker replica of what I really needed. Because of the size I'm going to have to find a special spot for it. I'll probably fold up my ironing board and put the Miele where it is now; I never iron clothes, just all those pillowcases, so don't need the ironing board. Because it weighs 82 pounds, they take the shipping very seriously. It came double-boxed with foam surrounding the inner box and a wood pallet under it, inside the outer box. It's delivered by a freight company, not package delivery or the post office. Shipping was free on this order. You might think you have something better to do with 2000 bucks, but if you love the feel of crisp, ironed sheets, this is totally worth it. And don't forget a nicely ironed tablecloth for those family holiday dinners.

Love it! Once I wrestled it out of all its packaging and cleaned it thoroughly (it arrived with a coating of factory greasy grime), it was a quick setup and was ready to iron! I started with the easy things - got several dozen linen napkins ready for Thanksgiving and upcoming parties. It was fast and easy. Table cloths, pillow sheets and bed sheets quickly followed. I tried a few shirts and it didn’t seem like the best tool for the job, but maybe I’ll master that with some practice. It will surely pay for itself over time while doing a better job than most of the linens sent to the dry cleaners! I haven’t yet decided if I should have gone the extra mile and purchased the model with steam, but I don’t dry much of the laundry, so I expect I will be happy with my decision with this purchase. I agree with other reviews that it would benefit from wheels that swivel, but I love that it can collapse and roll right into the closet for storage. Well worth the investment!

The worst product I have ever purchased. Broke within 30 days. Have had the run around from Amazon and Miele ever since. I have spent there last five months trying to get this returned, exchanged or repaired with no luck. Technicians have been to my home four times trying to fix this but have not succeeded. It's a worthless piece of junk. I'm out over $2,000.00. You would think Amazon would care enough to make a customer happy. I should have just returned it during the return window but I tried to get it repaired instead. Amazon won't budge!

My wife loves this roller iron! She irons table clothes, napkins, aprons, sheets and pillow cases with it. She had a learning curve, but her effort was well rewarded. She experimented to learn the proper dampness and way to feed table clothes and sheets into the roller to avoid wrinkles. She has used the roller iron twice weekly for over a month and is still learning. No doubt she will become even more proficient in the months ahead. My wife still irons shirts and pants with her hand iron. The roller iron weighs 85 lbs, but is easy to move and store -- and appears to be high quality. We are very pleased with this purchase.

We use it to iron sheets, pillow cases, napkins, etc. at our Alaska Heritage House B&B in Fairbanks, AK. We iron these items to match the customs of the day in our restored home on the National Historic Registry (Mary Lee Davis House). The iron is ten times faster than hand ironing and at least twice as fast as a table top steamer iron. We had an old Bendix mangle that broke and can't be fixed. The old Bendix allowed the operator to pause the rotary wheel to set a fold, and the new Miele does not. To set a crease, the item needs to be run through twice. Overall, this is a hugh labor saver for us and was worth the extra shipping cost to get it to AK.

So, I was thinking to myself, "Are you insane? Two G's for ironed sheets? Do you know how many times you could have the laundry do that for you?". Well, it turns out that the answer to that question is "Not so many". The local Martinizing will gladly launder and press a queen sized flat sheet and four pillow cases for $56.74. And you know what? For $56.74 they do an OK (not great) job. Tablecloths are similar but they charge by the square inch. One of my tablecloths would have cost $80.00. Napkins are $6.00. This isn't even the French style laundry in town who presses everything with a hand iron and charges $12.00 per shirt. I bought this machine from Amazon and I am very pleased with how fast and easy it is to press things, especially flat things like sheets, pillow cases, table cloths, and napkins. In fact, I can press the flat sheet and the pillow cases in less than 15 minutes. So, at $56.74 for 15 minutes work, that's like hiring a psychiatrist to press your sheets for you (who we might better use as a psychotherapist instead of having him/her iron our sheets if you're like me and want the perfect bed! Ha!). But, after only 40 weeks of ironing my own sheets, I figure that the rest of the years are gravy. If you are thinking about purchasing this machine go ahead and call around to find out how much it would cost you to have somebody do the job for you. When you pick yourself up off the floor, don't hesitate to work with this vendor. PS - two more things for consideration. First, I didn't have a problem with my khaki pants. In a few minutes I can do a weeks' worth of work clothes. Second, and this may sound a little eccentric, at $56.74 somebody is getting rich off of ironing sheets, but I figure it's not the people sweating their guts out to make it happen. I'd rather not participate in that.

This rotary iron is excellent. It was supposed to arrive in three days using Amazon Prime, but amazingly, it arrived overnight, in perfect condition, superbly packaged. CEVA was the delivery company.....they get 5+ stars. EvVive was the company that sold the item, fulfilled by Amazon Prime. EvVive also gets 5+ stars. The iron is simple to set up, and it is a well designed, elegant machine. The directions are very straight-forward. I put it right to the test with sheets, pillow cases and placemats. I put the iron on its hottest setting, and the rotary speed near its slowest setting, for cotton sheets, as the directions say. Using these settings, it is also extremely important to be sure that the sheets are damp. In fact, I took the sheets directly from the front-load washer, to the rotary iron. The washer's spin speed is so strong, that the sheets come out just a little damp. The pillow cases and placemats are a breeze. After two passes through the rotary iron, they were done. If you like a nice crease, then fold the pillow case and put it through the iron. Be aware that when you put damp sheets through the machine, there is a lot of steam produced. But after several passes, the items come out fairly dry. The sheet is trickier since it is so large. Just fold it vertically a few times, until the entire sheet fits under the rotary iron. I never went more than a 4-sheet thickness. As the sheet was fairly damp, I had to put it through 4 or 5 passes to complete the job. At times, the machine made a concerning high pitched sound, when I put the twice-folded sheet through the rotary iron. It still worked normally. The results were terrific. Inevitably, on the pillow cases and sheets, you end up with small creases in odd places, like you often notice on professionally laundered sheets in hotels. You can get better results if you are an expert with a hand iron, but it would take hours. The machine is extremely expensive, but it is clearly a solidly-built, quality appliance. If you really like ironed linen,shirts, etc, then it will definitely pay you back with hundreds of hours of saved-time, over many years.

Die Fahrer waren top (!!!) - freundlich, hilfsbereit und meldeten sich sogar eine Stunde vorher noch einmal telefonisch an. Ware traf schon wenige Tage nach der Bestellung bei uns ein.

Leicht zu bedienen, ich bin sehr zufrieden und möchte diese Bügelmaschine nicht mehr missen.

Die Bügelmaschine wurde schnell geliefert. Die Bedienungsanleitung im Bezug auf die Transportsicherung ist mangelhaft. Man findet die Sicherung mit dem mitgelieferten Bild schlecht. Das Gerät ist sehr gut zu bedienen und leicht zu handhaben.

Die Bügelmaschine ist bei uns fast täglich im Einsatz. Wir haben eine kleine Pension und da fällt viel Bettwäsche an. Gut zum bedienen, kann ich empfehlen.
