ECCO Men's Soft Classic Sneaker

These sneakers are pretty good looking, but these seem to be lighter "budget" versions of ECCO sneakers. Decent enough if you want to spend less than $100, but not as nice as ECCO 7 sneakers. Suppose they are good enough for sneaking.

I have a few pairs of Ecco sneakers that I wear all the time including the Soft 7 and Soft 8. This one is very similar to the Soft 7 in shape and fit, though the styling is a little simpler with no toe cap. The heel trim and insole are a little different too but these are all minor changes. I would say the fit is also very close to the more expensive Soft 7, just maybe slightly less sculpted or refined feeling. It’s the small difference between a shoe that fits me very well (this model) and one that fits like a glove (Soft 7). I got the mink color which is as it appears in the photos, kind of a darker or burnished saddle color that doesn’t lean toward being too red or brown. Got these for a great price, very happy with them so far.

I purchased this pair and another same pair in black for my 22 year old grandson to wear at college. He typically wears size 13, which fits him perfectly. Therefore, I initially ordered these in the 13-13.5 size range. He said they were too big. So, I reordered in the 12-12.5 range. He indicated even these felt a little larger than his normal 13 size shoes. He decided to keep them because he was impressed with their comfort, probably the most comfortable shoe he's worn. He's a big kid and his shoes take a pounding. They do appear very substantially well made but time will tell.

After having worn leather sneakers from various brands over the years, including Steve Madden and Cole Haan, I finally decided to give ECCO a try. While ECCOs are usually priced a bit higher than Cole Haan, this particular model is not. A solidly constructed shoe, with nice leather uppers and a very comfortable footbed. Typically a size 9, I followed the advice of others and sized down to 8.5; this turned out to be a mistake. However, I always found Cole Haan regular width at size 9 to be constricting across the instep, because of moderately wide feet. My conclusion is that the ECCO sneakers run a bit wider; if that's also you, I would recommend sticking with your normal size. In comparison, having also bought a pair of ECCO oxfords, I think sticking with your normal size only applies to their leather sneakers. Their oxfords have a design feature which accommodates slightly wider feet – specifically, a tapered footbed to accommodate natural spread in the forefoot (i.e., forward of arch, through the balls of the feet). Because of this, size 9 oxfords seem *slightly* too big, and I suspect sizing down to 8.5 might be the solution, although I didn't want to risk a return and turn out to be in between sizes; slightly too big is better than slightly too small. Other than dealing with European sizing, I highly recommend ECCO shoes.

These babies ooze subtle, understated class. It's like having a gated community on your feet!*Update, after about a week of use the leather has noticeable scuffs on it and the shoes are actually not as comfortable as they felt in the beginning. So much for the famed Ecco quality, I am underwhelmed.

I gave 4 stars because color was a lighter brown than the example photo. After a 12 mile hike on mountain trails these shoes showed no damage whatsoever and were quite comfortable even in rocky, uneven terrain and no blisters on my tender feet. I am impressed with these shoes and they look nice as well. I ordered my regular size 10d and they fit perfectly. The outer sole is great with good grip and durable. They are not hiking shoes by design I guess, but what a surprise!

Nice leather, and wide enough, however they are heavy shoes and there is not enough shock absorbtion for me. Was looking for a nice walking shoe for a "eurpean vacation" and they wont be comfortable enough for the amount of walking one does in one day. Its too bad because the leather is superior and the width is great for my wide foot, but the sole does not add up to the comfort i was looking for. Well made though. Bummer! Going with the Rockports instead which is does not look at nice, and has inferior leather, but which has the shock absorpton i was looking for in this price range ($80).

These sneakers are intended for casual use --walking, They fit well and are comfortable. I have been buying Ecco shoes for the past 20 yrs. including dress shoes, sneakers, and casual shoes. Always have a quality build, and all of my shoes are very durable. I expect these to be the same.

Shoes are so comfortable but I have worn them a total of 3 times and the stitching has come loose on one of the shoes. I contacted the seller through the app and have received no feedback.

Great look and confortable sneakers. Good choice.
