Cowboy Small (Lois Lenski Books) Board book – October 24, 2006

Such a cute little book for our cowboy loving 2 year old.

Our 1.5-year-old daughter was riding on her dad's back like a cowgirl one day and took a little tumble off. She began to cry. I said, "Kerplop! Cowboy Small hits the dust! But, he's a pretty good cowboy after all..." and she was all smiles.That was more than three years ago, and this book has been one of the few steady books on our (very full, always rotating) bookshelf ever since. We now have three children, ages 5, 3, and 1, and they all still enjoy it. The oldest doesn't pick it out on her own anymore, but the others still do, and the oldest doesn't object. It is really one of those books that is completely wholesome, entertaining, interesting, and educational. I would get it for children between about 18 months and 3 years in particular. We really love this book. We checked it out from the library at least six times, for two months at a time each time, before I finally realized that this one had staying power and I might as well finally buy it!I've read a few other Lois Lenski books and I think this one is by far the best. If your little one only had ten books to read every day for a year, I would include this one. And I still enjoy it after a few years of frequent reading, so that's saying something too!If you're looking to buy it as a gift, I may as well add, the price never drops down on this, and I haven't been able to find it cheaper anywhere else, unfortunately.

I've been reading this story to my son since he was a baby and now he's almost 2 and still asks for it! Definitely our favorite bedtime story!

Purchased this board book for my son’s First Rodeo themed birthday party. The book came in excellent condition and tells the story of a young cowboy.

Adorable little book

Such a fun and accurate cowboy story for toddlers! Great for any child who loves horses, cows and cowboys!! Beautiful illustration and wonderfully written!

My granddaughter loves this book. We love to find interesting things on every page. So much more than just a story!

Well this book was a little more simple than I had hoped as I was looking for more reading material for my own 4 year old little cowboy. Each page of this hard page book has 2-4 lines in it, basically touching on the things cowboy small does every day. But the simplicity makes this way more appropriate for my almost 2 year old daughter who tries to emulate her older brother in everything he does and she actually loves this little book 😊 So be mindful of your little ones age when you buy this. 1, 2, and mayyybe even 3 year olds at the most will find this intriguing I believe.
