3MScotch Brite 5" Hookit Disc Ultra Fine - Gray

This is a five inch flexible finishing disc manufactured by 3M. It carries the trademarked name of "Scotch-Brite" and is used with a backing pad to provide support. The disc attaches to the backing pad with a "Hook and Loop" type of fastening system that is similar to what most folks call "Velcro".These discs are graded by their relative degree of coarseness. These particular discs are rated as "Ultra Fine" which seems to put them in the range of a conventional abrasive of about 800 to 1000 grit (my opinion...). I have found this disc to be extremely helpful for metal finishing where the technique desired consists mostly of blending previous sanding marks.These discs are hard to fault. They perform very well and hold up to considerable use. I have found them to be almost indispensable for final surfacing or as an intermediate step before polishing.Five stars. Should have been a three pack for the price. They don't last very long.

Very nice alternative to 600-800 sandpaper. Buffs out without the swirl marks you can sometimes get with sandpaper that loads up. I use this as a final buff out before beginning polishing on water-based lacquer finishes - works terrific!
