This is my 2nd tube of PK-1. My first tube lasted me over a year. First off, people need to stop thinking/believing TIM reduces temps of your CPU or GPU, because it doesn't. All TIM does is improve the contact between two surfaces. The heatsink does all the cooling, not the TIM.PK-1 is the best TIM-in-a-tube period. This is after many years of Arctic Silver and other brands. From over 10 years of reapplying stock thermal paste what I have discovered is that the true and tried Arctic Silver completely fails to transfer heat when used on medium to poor contact surfaces. This evidence can be found on direct-pipe style heatsinks and heatsinks with poor contact surfaces (like on many stock CPU and GPU coolers).I have a MSI 6970 Lightning and for the longest time I kept thinking that either the pressure on the Frozr cooler wasn't strong enough or the cooler was somehow faulty. I reapplied AS5 twice using the 5-dice method (bigger pea in the center and four smaller peas in all 4 corners) and my temps still shot up to 80C on graphic intensive games like BF3 and Hard Reset and I clean the dust on my heatsinks regularly (every 3~4 months). Then I saw a report from Skinnee Labs showing how different TIMs hold up against different levels of contacts.Their report was dead on and it explains why my AS5 failed to provide good contact on my GPU, so I gave PK-1 a shot.After I applied PK-1 to my 6970 Lightning and ran a stress test, I couldn't believe my eyes, it was the TIM afterall. PK-1 kept my temps hovering around 65C whereas it used to shoot up to 80C. This experience reinforced Skinnee Labs TIM roundup. While most TIMs will do fine when there is 'great' contact other TIMs fail when there is medium to poor contact.

This compound is definitely ahead of the game as far as cooling goes; on average I saw 4-7°C differences going from AS5 to this. My only complaint is that the benefits deteriorate over time. You will notice after 8 months or so(in one case I noticed after 4 months) that your temperatures start to increase. This is because the TIM dries out over time and will need to be reapplied periodically. I would imagine that this issue is less pronounced in systems that are not using high end overclocks, but let's be honest here: we would not be on this page if we were not trying to overclock our systems.Overall I would say this is a commendable product. It is easy to apply and clean and does not leave residue on the surface it is applied to. If you find you are constantly adjusting or changing parts in your system and want a TIM that provides great performance for its price, then this TIM is for you. If you want something that is more "set it and forget it," then you should consider other options.

    High-grade Thermal Compound

It works fine for my needs.  The tube is five grams which will last me a very long time.  Most of the other high-grade thermal compounds were four grams or less for about the same price as the PK-1 five grams.It does have a very good screw on lid that should keep the paste from drying out at the end.  I did squeeze out just a tad to see if it was dry, and it was fine.  The PK-1 is made in Taiwan.  I could not find an expiration date on the box or tube.  You can tell how much is in the tube by shining a light up close to the tube.  The round cylinder end closest toward the cap has a clear spot, so you will know that your close to running out or not.I applied the PK-1 using the lentil/pea/small dot method to the center of my core i3-4360.  Temperatures are just fine.  It does come with a small plastic spreader with a handle, but I did not use it since I have good results by letting the heatsink spread the paste.
