Q: Do these work well for plaster walls?

Yes, they work pretty well. But I still suggest to pre-drill before using. The good thing is once they are removed the hole is pretty small, requires minimum patching.

Q: If i am securing a 1/2” wooden board to drywall, should i pre drill the wood first? is it best to use a screwdriver? should i put in at an angle!

I used my Wall-Dog for hanging the curtain rods, which was pre-drilled with holes. So, I will vote yes, pre-drill the hole. as for angling the Wall-Dog, I will vote no. Try some glue for a capable bond.

Q: How many pounds do these hold?

I've been using these for years. I couldn't say exactly how much they hold, I mean they are for hanging things into "just" drywall. I've used them for a variety of mounting items and have been happy with their performance. I've used 4 of them to mount an over the toilet cabinet and it's still there after 4 years. The secret is to make sure that you DON'T OVER TIGHTEN then. Just snug then stop.

Q: Will these work for metal studs?

no! not for metal studs or wood, it works on sheetrock (plasterboard) and best on old presheetrock walls
