There is no risk, works perfectly!
I used it to redo the plumbing on a house. I used it with 1/2" and 3/4" tubing. To use:1. Put the clamp over the tube.2. Slide the Pex all the way over the fitting until it bottoms against the shoulder of the fitting.3. Orient the fitting with one hand and push the handles together with the other and close the jaws enough to hold the clamp. It takes a little practice to hold the clamp in the jaws with enough tension to hold and not enough to compress it, but you'll have that down in about a minute.4. Move the tool and clamp until the clamp is 1/4" away from the end of the Pex tube, and cinch the clamp. Once you start to cinch the clamp, the ratchet engages, you have to continue until it is fully crimped, and then the ratchet releases. That works out well because you can't get a bad crimp, and if you have to readjust your hands while crimping, the tool stays attached to the crimp ring. The handles are long enough to get enough leverage, but I didn't find it awkward.*Sometimes you need to plan things a little where the tool won't fit while cinching the clamp, but that only happened a couple of places. With the flexibility of Pex, you can pull it back to where you can get at it, crimp it, and slide it back into the tight space.Advantages:1. It came with enough stainless crimps to where I didn't have to buy any, and they are not real cheap. The only stuff I needed to buy were the Pex crimp fittings.2. It makes a better connection than Sharkbites and longer lasting because there are no "O-rings" that go bad over time.3. It's cheaper than using Sharkbites. Sharkbite fittings cost at least 4x what crimp fittings do, which means you get the price of the tool back and then some the first time you use it.Thoughts:If you were doing this for a living you would probably want one that held the clamp for you and that had something to cut clamps off, but for a homeowner doing a one-off to redo his house, and extra 15 seconds per clamp makes no difference.

Crimps very good but
It works very well but it actually doesn't have the part to un do it. I screwed up and watched a video of how but this is the only one that can't! All should have both options. Now how can I remove one? I'd recommend buying one that does both.

Great product and easy to use
This is a great product for the price. It was probably half the price of similar products in big box stores. It came with several 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch clamps which was enough to finish my plumbing job. If you have a plumbing project and you can use pex I would recommend this product. The great thing about pex and being a DIYer is if you mess up it's much eaiser to fix then if you are using copper or CPVC. Also no need to worry about glue or using a torch is a big bonus!I rated this 5 stars based on the price and my experience with it. A few things I do want to point out. Several reviews state it takes a lot of force to crimp the larger rings. I totally agree with that. The largest ring I used was 3/4, but I was on a ladder crimping a line in the ceiling. It took a significantly more amount of force then the 1/2 inch ones I had been doing. The other thing that can become an issue is you have to fully open the handles to grab the the tab on the clamp so you can start to crimp it. This creates a big Y and if you are in a tight space that can be a problem. I do really like the ratchet feature that works as you close the handles. It did require the use of both hands to close the handles.

Great tool, but you need 3 hands
It's a great tool for a reasonable price. I don't know if it can survive constant use and abuse by professional plumber, but it's perfect for occasional DYI tubing projects.Definitely, tool for two hands and you need 3rd hand to hold clamp in place (see below).1/2" clamps: no issues whatsoever. It's a one-hand job.3/4" clamps: a little iffy because handles open far, which creates two issues:1) you need two hands to even initially crimp the clamp so it stays in place while you finally close it. And I have large hands (my wife calls them "upper feet). At the same time you need another hand to hold clamp in position. The simple workaround is a piece of electrical tape just to hold it in place.2) Might be tough in tight areas (just a guess, it was not was not my issue).Overall, very happy with this tool. Must have in your toolbox if you have PEX tubing.Yes, you have to have fairly string hands, especially for 3/4" clamps.

Saved my bacon
I had an emergency leak with my plumbing. This was able to fix the problem quickly. The tool came with some clamps that allowed me to replace a section of pex pipe easily. Alot of purchase on the handle for easy leverage. This is a good tool. Happy to have it in my tool box for later.

It works better than I expected
I'm 80 years old and am not as strong as I once was. I have an older manual crimper and I'm doing the water system in a 13' home made camper trailer. I couldn't crimp the Pex clamps tight enough with my old crimper. When this compound leverage crimper arrived, I quickly tried to tighten the clamps that I already had in place. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to tighter the already tighten clamps even tighter. This is a good tool to have, even for a younger and stronger person.

pince pex

Good value for the price
This product won't overwhelm you with its quality, but for intermittent or periodic use, it serves its use excellently. And it comes with some rings to boot! I would recommend and I buy again, but not for heavy duty use. It's not for tradesmen, but otherwise fine for me.
