Excellent at a great price
I like this fountain pen. I have some other Lamy pens I like as well. But this one was between the low and high end, that is, affordable and excellent quality. It has a stiff nib, something I desperately need as I am heavy-handed. I have used this pen daily since it arrived and plan to use it for a long time.

Nicely blended functional design and style
First, the vendor that sold the pen shipped promptly with good packaging. The pen and box arrived undamaged. I would use the vendor again. The pen is representative of Lamy: nicely made, good design elements, comfortable to use, good value. There are more expensive brands, for both function (nib and feed) and cachet ("precious" resin), but Lamy does a great job melding material, design and value. The nib is designed to be replaceable, and I installed a 1.1 stub. I was unsure of the smooth grip section that comes with the matte-black model, but this has been a non-issue for me. The cap "clicks" to post, and the clip is strong. The one less-than-perfect issue: slightly loose-fitting cap. This is widely remarked on this model, but it's intentional: it prevents the cap from overly marring the grip section over time. Further, the plastic cap liner is actually replaceable. Others have remarked that the cap becomes rather loose over time and doesn't stay seated, which is possibly due to the reverse-threaded screw that retains the cap liner in the cap becoming loose (if the screw hasn't been lost, tighten it; perhaps apply a tiny bit of loctite). It is a very thoughtfully designed pen, and it shows. Some may find the weight to be tiring over time, but I didn't experience that as an issue - I'm using PIlot Asa-Gao ink, which flows nicely - no hard starts, and continues for extended writing, even on less-than-ideal paper. However, that is attributable more to the ink; "dryer" inks might be problematic in this pen. as other reviewers have noted. For me, the pen is useable without posting the cap, but the balance is slightly off. Smaller hands might appreciate not posting the cap.

Classy, great clip, well made pen
I got a sudden jones for this pen while watching a video on a different Lamy classic. So I shopped around and bought it. The outer sleeve was crushed in a few places, but since the pen came in a metal box, it was unharmed. The material is nice to touch, the pen fits well in the hand. The shiny metal grip is not my preference.

Writes Like a Dream
This is my favorite pen in my collection. It's easy to fill, not that bed to clean, and writes like a dream. I'm a lefty so many pens/nibs can give a thought time. Not the 2000. It's smooth as butter and every ink I've tried has worked flawlessly.

Just as expected
It's elegant, yet discrete. I did swap the nib for a medium one because I just like that better. It came on the box with a converter, which I very much appreciate. No complaints.

Solid pen out of the box, customizes easily
I've been a fan of LAMY's Studio ballpoint and rollerball pens, so I decided to stick with them when getting into fountain pens. This is now my favorite pen. It's wide and weighty like other Studio pens, and has proven easy to customize. I installed a refill converter, which holds enough ink for a couple days (for me-- I scribble a lot). I tried out several nibs before settling on the extra fine (ordered separately), which works best with my style. It only takes a light touch to make a clean line-- I had to learn to ease up compared to ballpoints, especially on thinner notebook paper which wants to bleed and blotch. Now that I'm comfortable with it, I use this pen daily. It's like getting a tailored suit after years of tee shirts and jeans.

Poor quality control of nibs
I like this pen as it writes reliably and uniformly. Unfortunately Lamy does not have control over nib manufacturing. An EF nib can write like a medium or broad or a F nib can write dry and thin like a poor EF nib. This pen came with an F nib that produced an incredibly thin line using Lamy's own Blue ink. If I wanted an EF this would meet the need - very uniform, very thin. But for the paper I am to use this pen on the writing was weak and pale and the nib felt rough against the paper. I've ordered another F nib to eventually swap with this one - the big advantage of Lamy is that not only are replacement nibs available but they are readily available.

The body scratches very easily and the black looks extremely ugly
The body paint flakes very easily even by scratching by nail. It is very disappointing to see this quality level on such a premium pen. While the pen is heavy and good to hold and write, the overall aesthetics will deteriorate in less than a month. I would not recommend this product to anyone at all. Please avoid buying at all costs.

Substandard
The built quality is not satisfactory. When the pen is capped, the cap slightly moves which is not expected at all from such premium category pen. The smoothness of the nib (F) did frustrate me too. I have a Lamy Safari(EF) which is way smoother than this so called LAMY STUDIO. While writing, the pen does not offer a good grip over it. If this is the standard with such high price then, I am sorry, I didn't want it.In one line, I am now skeptic whether it's an original or a copy of Lamy Studio.
