I grid my original drawing in those dimensions and leave those grid lines showing. I set the projector on my studio table that is 30" high, and tape my large canvas about 5-6 feet away. Moving the projector is the best way to get clear lines. The focus has limited ability. Need to work in dark room, and best bulb to put in is a 15w compact florescent so it stays cool. This is not for highly detailed work but it suits my loose painting style for floorcloths. **Q: what type of bulb works in the projector?** A: The below answer is incorrect!!! I ordered this exactly and it does not fit. Satco S8206 23 Watt (100 Watt) 1600 Lumens Mini Spiral CFL Soft White 2700K GU24 Base Light Bulb **Q: could i put this over a larger painting small areas. at a time to do a mural on wall** A: I actually transfer smaller pics to large white paper (off a roll) and then transfer those onto a wall and draw the lesser details between to do murals. You can color the back of the drawings with a pencil (tape them up to a window and image shows great) then tape to wall and trace over. The graphite from pencil will transfer to wall. Much easier than projecting. **Q: Can i project onto fabric?** A: Yes. It projects out you decide the surface. It has a very small area that can be set on whatever one wants to enlarge, but has limited use if doing a mural or large painting. It is portable and light weight. It uses a high lumen lightbulb, not included. The lightbulb doesn't heat up paper or a book it is set on for the length of time it takes to trace onto whatever surface.
