Barrow King: An Epic LitRPG/GameLit Adventure: The Realms, Book 1

I really enjoyed Barrow King
I always wanted to try Dungeons and Dragons but never got the opportunity. I do play mmorpg's. A lot of books I read I kinda know what's going to happen. Not this book. It's well worth the read. I hope the rest are just as good.

Good, basic, simple story. Not well done, as it reads like a new writer.
The overall story was good, as well as the world building the author tried to develop. The largest problem where the plot holes in the lazing writing were the author would just have the main character say: "And then he gets it!" Or, " and then he understood"...Also it was almost like copying a game of d&d that was played but the problem I noticed was the author never gave us any game dynamic stats of other characters in the world he created to let us know if the main characters stat sheet was impressive or not.... It left the reader not even caring about the stats, and also wondering what difference did any of the challenges he faced because you just assumed they was going to make it because he's the main character... This took a lot of the suspense from the book, and made me feel like I was playing the dungeon notes from a d&d game. The story overall was not bad just weak writing with lots of plot holes!I'll attempt to book two to see if the story gets any better because there are a lot of reviews on this however I think they may be for younger readers or maybe new to the genre, but hopefully the author's writing style and skill level improves to engage the reader more. Simple read and basic story.

Surprisingly fun!
I didn't know what to think of a litrpg book having never read one before but this book was a real fun good read. Easy to get thru in a day too. Very good battle scenes with tons of detail. Can't wait for vol 2.

Book was a book form of a video role play game. Shallow. Formulaic Kind of interesting for 1 book. Won’t waste time on any others.

Surprisingly Good
I will say that I often don't like OP characters though at least in this case there turns out to be a good reason. A God has to be some kind of powerful after all. The stats themselves for the most part are an afterthought really. The perks and abilities are the only things that seem to matter. This story is less litrpg and more story centric than most in the genre. There are a few things that just irritate me a little and that seems to me that the Gyrph always seems to find a solution out of all the problems. He does die some, but to the hardest solutions he always just seems to magically have a way. Another thing is hopefully you don't mind console talk. What I mean by that is that many many times in the story Gryph grabs another's shoulder with 1 hand or 2 or kneels to them and repeats a mantra to them that everything will be fine. The first couple times it's OK but by the end I wish Gryph would just be a little more manly. Xeg is a hero, Xeg is life and probably the best written out of the bunch. So, there us some grating stuff and some cringy moments like come on you hardened man stop with all the feeling moments. That being said, the action scenes were well done and satisfying. The flaws didn't take away from the story and was well done. On to book 2.

best book I’ve read in ages
Wonderful litrpg. Action straight from the start and then a thrilling adventure through the dungeon, meeting a slew of classic monsters.

For Those Of Us Who Love A Good Dungeon Crawl
I enjoyed this one. Excellent storyline with well paced action of the hack and slash variety. The mc used wits when facing overpowered monsters. No dungeon crawl is complete without artifacts and loot and we get lots of them. The game mechanics enhanced the story without slowing things down. Good descriptions and 3d characters. You don't need to be a gamer to get in to this story. Gods, demons, monsters and heroic companions and difficult quests. I'll be reading the rest of this series.

In the gamelit genre, this is gold.
Continuity, good story set up and a proper dungeon crawl. Only thing was the lvl disparity but then thats kinda a hallmark of the genre.

A new Litrpg Realm
This is a great first book (of hopefully a long series) & the author is easily up to the standards of Huesca, Schinhofer etc. There are as usual a few spellink mistakes (hehehe) but the storyline is solid & so far no lovey-dovey stuff happening. Looking forward with great anticipation to the next book & i am hoping whatever stalled Cosimo Yap's series (leaving us hanging for bk3) doesn't happen here. As usual the most/highest i give is 4* as only a handful of authors have ever received 5* such as Tolkien blah de blah blah. Hoping Cosimo's as well as he can be & hopefully we will see bk3 in the future. Note: the next in the series (bk1.5) can be gotten for free at the end of this book which was to late for me as I'd already preordered it. (Knew how good this book was going to be a few chapters in). Take care now
