Necessary for Any Steam Controller Owner
I ordered this along with the steam controller itself, applying it immediately. This fixes one of the most common criticisms of the steam controller, which is that it felt like cheap plastic. This skin really and truly makes the Steam controller look more expensive and of higher quality, while making it more pleasant to hold for long periods of time. My only real qualm are the dotted sides, which I feel protrude into my hands too hard. Thankfully it's easily ignored and even improves grip, though I'd recommend the creators to smooth them out in any future revisions. The start and back buttons also become slightly harder to push down because of an enveloping buffer around them, but otherwise doesn't impact any of the other buttons. I'm incredibly disappointed that this didn't include a joystick cover like the other foamy lizard products do, though the steam controller joystick was designed in such a way that it doesn't need one as much as the competition. A lack of joystick cover is also easy to justify thanks to the $12.99 price tag, which is $7 less than Foamy Lizard's other products. And considering the possibility of using one of the owl-eyed touchpads as a joystick instead, it makes sense to not include a cover for the Steam controller's token joystick. I criticized this product for not having additional colors, though obviously it does now. I would've liked to have had that option originally, but I won't criticize this product for not offering it sooner. I used to think that this Steam controller skin had room for improvement, but it really doesn't The issues I mentioned are mostly negligible, and it's the only skin for the Steam controller on the market at the time of this writing. Until another company chooses to give consumers more choices in skins (Kontrol Freek and Valve itself would be ideal contenders), this is the best purchase that you can make alongside purchasing the Steam controller.

Awesome Skin, Must have for Steam Controller!
This ParticleGrip skin from Foamy Lizard is a great addition to the Steam Controller. It solves two of the most complained about issues with the Steam Controller and that is the cheap feel and the crappy appearance of glossy plastic. This skin helps it feel and look much much nicer and adds bit a weight and grip as well. The skin fits fairly tight, it could be tighter, but as it is it doesn't move or feel loose. Installation is a breeze, it took maybe 30 seconds to have it on and ready to go. This is a great value for the price. Some reviews complain about the cover making the start/select buttons (slightly) harder to press and this is true however it is not such a big issue that it would be worth deducting a star. There is no other interference of controls that I have found. Some reviews complain about the nubs digging into their hands, that is a matter of opinion, I find them to add more grip and are not irritating even after many hours of non-stop game play. Buck up, Kiddo.

Good Skin, could have been a great skin.
I am going to preface this review with that the skin works great for me now, but out of the bag it, not so much and I am rating it in it's original form.I picked this up because I love the Steam Controller, it's a great controller but the plastic always felt cheap and didn't give me the grip I wanted on the controller. This was the only suitable fix I found for that and grips feel great and after I have modified it a bit, it is ideal, but I have 2 problems with this skin that needed fixing. The First is I don't think the designer actually uses a steam controller, I had to do some modifications, basically cutting up the front of the skin, The 1st problem areas were around the track pads, I use edge spinning on a lot of my configs and the raised lip around the edge forced me to push skin to the side when I ran my thumbs around the edges of the pad. The other problem was around the buttons, the rise next to the B button wasn't horrible but since I was hacking away I took that out too, the biggest issue was hitting the forward and back buttons (where start and select are for standard controllers) the skin raised up to the point it was difficult to press these buttons, so I had to chop that out too. My 2nd issue is that while the skin conforms to the shape of the controller, it doesn't hug it, and this is before I went hacking at it.There is no adhesive or texturing on the inside of the skin basically allowing it to slide around if I happened to rotate my wrists at all, not this doesn't come up in normal play, in fact it rarely is an issue other than me picking up the controller, but it is enough to irk me, so I used a light weight adhesive on the inside of the skin and problem solved. In closing I not sure I would recommend this if you can find something better, the problem is finding something better, after my modifications I absolutely love the way this feels on the controller. If I was to buy another controller, I would still consider buying this skin as most "skins" for the steam controller are just decals and don't do anything, but I would like to see improvements mad on it.

Overall good product, still using it! Just a couple small quirks.
At first touch, it feels pretty good. Others said the studded grips were too sharp and it's not really true; they could be shorter/duller, but they're far from uncomfortable. The material and overall feel (and look) is actually pretty good. The only thing I really noticed is that the middle - between the start/select/Steam buttons, the analog stick and A/B/X/Y buttons - is kind of loose. The rest fits fine, of course, but it could cause a problem for some people. For those that don't want to read through me babbling about specifics after a couple days, here are some pros and cons: Pros: -Great feel, aesthetic -Maintained a good grip over long periods of play -Comfortable, not too thick -Easy to put on/take off Cons: -MINOR: Mid-section between the stick/center buttons/ABXY buttons a little loose, though it doesn't really get in the way -MINOR: Edges around the pads can take a little getting used to -Can be a little trickier to push the select/Steam/start buttons Overall: I actually like it a lot. Granted, I haven't seen any alternatives for a good skin like this, so there's not much to compare it to, but it's a pretty solid product minus a couple nitpicky things. I'd definitely recommend it to others. I also included some pictures to show the fit. The last one is there to give you a sense of how high the barriers around the controls are, if you're curious. More in-depth stuff below: After using it for a couple days regularly playing Dark Souls PTDE & 2, I can say I'm comfortable with it and like it quite a bit. Feels good to the touch, it doesn't slip, and does its job pretty well. As for some cons, the first thing I noticed was the claims that the select/start/Steam buttons are hard to push are true to some extent; they're a little trickier to push, but since they aren't that regularly used and it's still really not that hard to push them, so I don't really see that as as much of a problem as some make it out to be. Aside from that, every once in a while it can make it a little awkward to push the A and B buttons (not X/Y), and it took time to get used to the borders around the pads, but other than that, I'm happy with the product and will happily continue to use it. For a 5-star rating, I'd recommend working out that loose mid-section and maybe give a little more room/shrink the barriers around the select/Steam/start buttons, ABXY buttons, and trackpads, since those are the only things that would probably get in the way of some more serious players.

The skin feels very nice and is just what I was looking for however the fit is terrible. The skin is so loose around the steam button and left joy stick that I just cut it off like another reviewer here did.

Don't hesitate, just buy it!
Here's the skinny: if you're looking for a controller that you can just pick up and intuitively know without ever wanting to spend more than the 5 seconds it takes for a USB dongle to connect, then move on. Just go buy an Xbox One controller. HOWEVER, if you're interested in something that can revolutionize your game play by the sheer amount of customization, then please, by all means, spend the money on THIS. The sheer amount of customization for almost any application is well worth the money and time. Some people do a pros and cons list, but I'm going to have to do a cons and pros list ;-) CONS: 1) You will have to "train" your muscle-memory away from any "standard" controller if you've played console games before. Think about it; if I've put in a thousand hours over the course of the last 15 years using an Xbox controller, it'll take 10 hours of playtime just to get 1% of that muscle memory trained in... 2) Due to the glossy plastic they decided to use, it has a cheap *feeling*... Yes, feeling. It certainly isn't cheap, but there's an inherent sense that we've been accustomed to that this controller just doesn't give us that satisfactory tactile response we're used to. Solution: spend $12 on the rubber skin made by Foamy Lizard. Seriously. It's worth the $12 PROS: 1) Customization! WOW. I'm not going to post here the amount of depth this thing can do. Just pop over to YouTube and check out any video in spring of 2016 or newer -- there was a huge software update, so the older posts will lead you astray. 2) The haptic feedback is extremely satisfying. It took me 30min just to convince my thumb that there wasn't a ball underneath the pad. 3) Dual stage triggers. These are so nice. The pull is just right, and that final "click" is satisfying. 4) It makes a little tinkling sound when you turn it on. Yep, I said it. I don't care what you think; I like it ;-) Be warned, though: once you overcome its "differentness", you'll never go back. I tried to use my Xbox controller afterward -- thinking that I'd give my "training" a break -- and I couldn't stand using it after 1 minute. You won't realize how spoiled your game play got until you've spent *quality time* with the Steam controller.

OK if you want to glue it to your controller.
Doesn't actually fit properly. The middle sections between the pads is lifted and my thumbs catch it using the pad. I suppose it would be fine if I glued the skin to the controller, but that involves me gluing something to an already expensive controller. This skin is junk.

Makes the Steam Controller look great!
Very smooth and soft to the touch. Despite what other reviews have said, I haven't found the grip nubs uncomfortable at all. It makes the Steam Controller feel a lot less cheap and plasticky, and for that alone it's well worth the cost. It is a little loose around the face buttons, so I used the "place skin in boiling water for 10 seconds, then immediately stretch onto controller and place in the freezer for 30 min" trick (obviously try not to get any water in the controller!). It's definitely still a tiny bit loose but much better than before. If it really bothered me, I'd use double sided tape, which would eliminate the problem completely. Considering that this was the only choice for actual skins for the SC, I was wary. However, I have found this skin to be of great quality. Would definitely buy again! I got it in black, by the way, so I can't comment on the other colors, but I have found the black to be attractive.

If you're always dropping your things all over, you need this.
Love it. It collects dust easily however, so I keep it in its box because it's a little hard to clean once the dust sticks. But I love it. It's comfortable and it relieves me to know that if I drop my remote again I won't scratch it. I had accidentally kicked my first Steam Controller ( 3 days after receiving it ) and managed to get it all scratched up when it fell off the bed. It still works really well, the controller seems pretty sturdy, but not from scratches. I was sad, so I bought another one and bought this for it to make sure I wouldn't screw up this one. This isn't really important but the only little thing bothering me about the Skin is for the start buttons; the skin kinda makes it difficult for me to press the buttons (Compared to when it doesn't have the skin on) but this isn't enough of a bother for me to dislike it. Just a matter of getting used to and I think it might be because I have small hands so the reach feels different.Otherwise it doesn't impede on anything else. :)

Awesome Skin!
Great skin. Feels quite slick and not like Tire rubber which was a big concern of mine. Skin does not slide around on the steam controller, stays firmly in place and feels very durable. The skin does, as people have said, make the start and select buttons pretty recessed, but I'd say that its nothing to worry about. The skin also is a little bit 'floppy' or loose on the very bottom between the handles. It really isn't a big deal at all, just nitpicking. 9/10 would buy again.

Overpriced, but excellent
A must have for anyone with the steam controller. The steam controller feels like cheap rubbish in the hands (that plastic!) and this makes it worlds better. My hand would cramp after a couple hours with the steam controller, turns out it was because I had to grip hard when my hands got sweaty and this sleeve alleviated it. Goes on really easily, fits well. A tad loose at the bottom. I didn't think i'd like the bumps but I do. Overpriced but high quality and the only skin I could find.
