Cuts nice and easy to set up and use. Blade is of good quality and very, very sharp (accidentally made a small cut on my thumb when I was seeing how sharp it was)

I’ve been baking sourdough loaves for about 8 years, a couple times a month. I always just used a very sharp knife to slash my bread before putting it in the oven, and so considered getting an actual lame a waste of money/kitchen drawer space (we have so many kitchen gadgets that I try to avoid anything that only serves one specific purpose). Also, I just didn’t feel like I bake enough bread to warrant this. But, I’m ashamed to say, seeing all these pandemic bakers score beautiful designs and make gorgeous bread after only just learning how to bake bread, finally convinced me I should try. And I’m so glad I did! It makes a huge, immediate difference. The blade is so thin compared to knives, so it just slips right into the loaf to slash it. I’m not sure I can articulate the difference, but if you are using a knife and think it’s similar enough, just trust me and give this a try. The difference it makes is astonishing. And as for the artsy design scoring: yup. My first attempt at making a pretty pattern, and it came out amazingly. That is all due to the lame and not to any skills on my part, I promise. So if, like me, you are thinking this won’t make a big enough difference, or you don’t bake enough or aren’t good enough at baking bread yet to deserve this purchase, just get it. It will make a huge difference and yes, you totally deserve it!

Finally! This is the best lame that I have used! It cuts right through the dough, doesn’t drag and can’t wait to use it for more decorative designs! This makes my fifth buy of lames! Try this one! It is great! The only issue is that blade doesn’t retract for storing! This is a n edit: I have cut my fingers while changing the blade on this lame! Now I am too afraid to use it! It does come w 2 tiny finger protectors which makes it very hard to use!

My 11 year old has started making/selling sourdough to raise funds for a humanitarian trip we’re taking her on. She’s made over 60 loaves in the last 2 months. She tried using a pairing knife, cutco sedated knife, a razor blade and now this. She’s been scoring her dough while it’s already in the ditch oven—so it’s been difficult for her to get the correct angles needed with the other tools. This is by far the easiest for her to score with. She’s on the same 1st blade after 12 loaves. It’s probably finally time to switch it out. It’s easy to clean, small so it doesn’t take a lot of space. The blade stays in place. Overall. I have zero complaints. Maybe price? Other listings have a proofing basket included in the purchase for about the same price. I chose this one instead of the others because of previous reviews stating the blade stays in place. I agree. It does. This is excellent.

I bought these for my businesses to score our bread before baking. You do have to hold the blade at an angle when scoring otherwise the bottom corner will catch the bread and “snag” it. The blades are sharp, easy to put on and remove, and the handle is great so it doesn’t slip while wearing gloves or during use. It is easy to clean and store, as it comes with a small leather cover that fits over the blade to protect it and keep it clean. You also get a handful of replacement blades with the tool. The blades do occasionally fall off, but it isn’t to the point of not purchasing this tool. I will continue to purchase for my businesses going forward.

Like many folks I took up sourdough baking during the 2020 lockdown. I never bought a lame to score my dough because I just used a plain safety razor blade. That worked okay but I always wondered if a lame might be easier to use and perhaps do a better job. I decided to purchase this set as an inexpensive experiment to satisfy my curiosity. I was honestly surprised at how well it worked. Not only did it provide an effortless clean cut but I found it much easier to score decorative patterns. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I don’t love it. It’s kind of a headache to put everything together when bread making is already a headache. I feel like it’s kind of a waste. Just grab a razor and do it by hand is easier.

I looked at many selected this one and I picked a good one. Good and sturdy handle. Instructions, so easy to apply the blade. Has a leather sheaf that is good I keep it in the box.

1 1/2 yrs after purchasing and I am still using and happy with my purchase. It does a great job with my sourdough and that's why I've given it 5 stars. The little storage cover is nice and all the extra blades. I actually haven't even had to replace the blade yet and I make sourdough quite often.

I have used this product before and was very happy with it. I would not use anything else. It is a must have in my kitchen. Easy to use and durable.
