Bought this to make my own shellac for woodturning finishes... Dissolved quickly enough into alcohol to make a 3lb cut with no/ next to no sediment so didn't bother filtering before making shine juice..The flakes, If stored in double zip lock bag/ sealed jam jar, I'm sure will last for ages - just remember mixed shellac has a shelf life.. So only mix what you need.. Dissolving time can be further reduced to mere hour(s) if flakes are pulverised into a powder (pestle n mortar or old coffee grinder)

They produced a stunning finish on our oak staircase handrails. Takes a good bit of preparation, I needed about 12 hours to get them to fully dissolve so you do need to plan ahead for the work. However, the resultant finish is well worth all the effort. Will definitely buy more for other projects.

It does not mix properly with meths and has gummed up my brushes. I’ve been left with one full and one opened pack. I would dearly like a refund as Ive been unable to finish a sculpture which has been booked in for moulding. I don’t know where these flakes come from but they are like no shellac flakes I’ve ever used before - and I’ve been shellacking plaster items for many years. I think you might wish to discontinue selling it!
