The material is thick enough so the rim is just flat. It pours well. It is very strong and sturdy. The 2 I got have slightly different rims. One flared a bit more than the other. The laser etch on the bottom allows surface rust. I wish they had just put a sticker on instead. I tested the stainless steel with a magnet. The bottom does not allow the magnet to stick. The sides the magnet with lightly stick, from what I understand due to how the stainless steel is formed for the rounded sides. So it does appear to be a high quality stainless steel.
