Looks awesome, sounds good, works for our 4000 square ft home.
Call me crazy, but I installed this in a 4000 square ft home with 4 bathrooms. It is just 3 of us though. So I think I can answer some questions people have in a larger home. I gave this thing 4 stars originally because of the lower power, but then UPDATED moved to 5 stars since it does so well for us. It looks awesome, sounds good, small, light weight. Most people in reviews talk about showers. Well our household take primarily baths. For filling a bathtub, you need to play with the settings. At 48 degree F water here in MI, I found turning water heater down to 1.5 gpm works. I set the temperature at 131 degrees at the water heater. By the time it gets to my huge Jaccuzzi, it goes down to 115 degrees. That is hot, so I was able to add a tiny bit of cold and got a Jaccuzzi tub full at 97 degrees in about 30 minutes. Not too bad. Plus it is hotter and can fill to any higher level than my previous 50 gallon water heater.Next test, a regular small bathtub, but at the far end of my house. The water lines run through the garage ceiling. By the time it gets there, it is at 106 degrees and takes about 10 minutes to fill the tub. This small tub actually was the hardest to get just right. Originally I had the water at 2.4 gpm, and it was fine for the big tub, but terrible for this far smaller tub. This is why I set the flow to 1.5 gpm right at the water heater. I think I will just leave it there, rather then keep having to adjust. Ok, 1.5 gpm is really low and 2 people cannot fill a tub at the same time, but it works for us and you can fill the 2nd tub immediately after. For your closer bathrooms, you can get a bit more gpm by adding some cold water. We had a 50 gallon direct vent gas water heater. This was not perfect either. We could never get more than 1/2 a tub before cold water started coming out. So even though this tankless water heater takes a longer time to fill a tub, it can keep going until it is full. So we just set the timer on the Jaccuzzi to 20 minutes and then come back and check on it. Compromises but the benefits are how efficient it is, how it never runs out of hot water, and since it is lower power, it has to be safer. It is safer than having a tank, that is for sure. Check water heater mythbusters on yout.So I am not necessarily recommending someone with a 4000 square ft house to buy this. Although for a conservative family that has no problem with compromising a little time for filling a tub for efficiency, you can definitely get by.Next test, faucets. You can run 2 faucets at the same time at my settings. I imagine at 2.5 gpm maybe 3 faucets but I do not want to keep changing the flow rate.I really love the touch screen and the looks are nice. Btw plan on a dozen trips to buy pipe parts. I also bought more exhaust vent. The exact same. Basically China makes these vent kits the exact same size so I can extend mine. Under 20 bucks online. Also plan on spending another 300 bucks on pipe parts. This is because you have to get the pipes from where your tank water heater was to where your tankless water heater is. I think it is worth it. It will save $250 a year. Btw, it felt good getting rid of that big bulky and ugly tank water heater.7/6/2017 Update: I just want to add that as the summer comes, I was able to lower temperature on the water heater to 113 degrees. So in the summer this thing has extra capacity available. I still just leave it at 1.5 gpm. Use of this water heater has become normal for us.

BETTER THAN EXPECTED TRUE TALK FROM A HANDY MAN
I am a Handy man so I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. I had deep reservations about getting this unit because my plumber friends said to get more well known brands that had more gpm ( gallons per minute) . I normally listen to my professional friends but due to all the positive feed back that I read I had to give it a try. This unit works great more than enough hot water, the space I installed it in is aprox. 800 sq ft one bedroom with kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. I gave it 5 stars due to its efficiency, looks, performance and ease on start up. I absolutely would buy another unit. The bad...... when filling up the bathtub running water at full throttle all the way on hot it ran little over medium warm about 3.0 gpm But when I backed the water pressure down about 2.0 gpm the temp was too HOT..... ps I set the max temp on the unit to 140 deg. I have only seen the unit work so far about one week.

It's for camping, house needs a more reliable and hopefully it doesn't come with a bent water inlet
Water inlet came bent, thought it could possibly run my house that is about 1500 square feet and has one and a half bath but after seeing all the parts and pain for all the parts and spending over $500 on everything I did not want to install it as I was worried my water would not be clean enough and I would be replacing it very quickly unless you clean out the system and know how to plumb it in so if anybody wants one I believe the water inlet is not ruined but just bent and I have the exhaust pipe thimble , and water clean outs suggested and everything they recommended and didn't use it once and now can't return it! Ended up buying a used water heater that replaced the same size water heater I had and that had a stinky anal rod h10 cause us to sell the house because I remodeled it twice because of a roof leak on the second round and wanted a updated more efficient water heater but that tankless is for camping or cabin and you also want to have a lot of sediment filters prior to the water entering the tank otherwise it will get ruined so I also have a sediment magnet type sand filter I don't know what it is but it was around $100 so all in all I spent over $500 when I could have just got in a new water heater. So I would either get a nice $1,000 plus unit that can handle a little bit of minerals in the water or get a power vent water heater with a recirc pump because I also paid an electrician to install a electrical outlet so I'm probably into it about $600 but I'd sell this one 300 brand new and less ecotemp will take it back then I would give them shout outs because I know they make good products but this was their first digital touchpad that I seen and it said it can handle two bathrooms and the kitchen faucet but really it said like four gallons a minute maybe a little more but every plumber said it wasn't going to work for very long at least so ecotemp if you can take it back I have the box still and I would be glad to purchase another product that would go in my next home if you had a big enough unit otherwise I would purchase a less sophisticated unit and use it for camping.

Cheap and works great
I bought this to replace a 40gal hot water heater that finally went bad on me. the price is very fair, and I will say it works excellent. I have noticed my gas bill is a bit lower with the use of this during the summer as well. I will however mention that this heater heats once water flow is detected, meaning that sometimes it can take around 30 seconds or so to get hot water to your faucet depending how far away you are, but the great thing about it is once its there, you have an endless supply! for the price, can not beat it! I have a small 900sq ft house and while someone is in the shower I can still use the kitchen faucet just fine, keep in mind you are buying a low gph heater so if you have a bigger house you may want to invest in something a bit larger, or get a Point of Use water heater.

Some issues up front but worked out and all is well
This unit is very attractive. It is installed in a remodel that I am working on so it is not in my own home, has only been installed for a week, and since I am not using it myself I can only say that if is putting out hot water and I have had no complaints. We did have a bit of an issue with the first unit we received. After install it would not light, we got an E5 error code. We talked to Eccotemp tech support and tried all the things that they suggested but it still would not light. The home owner was out of hot water for almost a week while Amazon shipped a new unit to us. We installed the replacement unit and we got the same E5 message. It was frustrating but the plumber stuck with it until he figured out the damper in the exhaust pipe from the first unit (we only changed the tank part) was stuck shut and would not open. Once he replaced the exhaust pipe the unit fired and worked perfectly. It was quite a relief since I was the one that encouraged them to purchase a tankless water heater. All in all, the unit is attractive, easy to use, heats the water quickly and it extremely quiet. I hope that the homeowners have years of service with this unit.

Great product, but a learning experience was included!
I'm very happy with this product, but I also had a valuable learning experience. If you plan to replace your tankless gas heater with this guy, it will install in no time. BUT...If you plan to replace a TANKED gas water heater with this tankless heater, get ready for a lot of trips to your Home Depot. This heater is designed to mount on an outside wall and vent directly behind the unit and through the wall. The vent pipe is pretty small, around 2 inches diameter and 18 inches in length. My initial pan was to remove the gas heater, install this guy on the wall, then use the existing galvanized 3 inch pipe to vent. NOPE! This will violate the warranty, your local building codes, and possibly test your fire insurance claims department. Due to the high heat output (80,000 BTU) and the condensation issues that occur with this heat, stainless steel piping is required. Just try to find someone local that sells 2" Stainless steel vent pipes! The manufacturer sells a vertical vent kit for another $200+ but that pipe cannot fit inside of your current roof vent. You will need to remove the old vent and install the new one. For me, it was easier to cut the pipes and relocate the heater to an outside wall instead of creating roofing issues.

Works as expected and beautiful design.
With the gpm limit in mind, unit works very well. Pretty easy to install yourself too. Only real hiccup was realizing I needed a wood brace on top of the lower edge of the vent metal "flashing" in order to mount the thing.Edit: Took my first shower with it installed and I had temp set to 120F on the unit. Had to shower with only the hot water on, no cold, for it to be nice and hot. Also learned my tub uses about 3.8gpm which was too much for this unit to handle. Shower head is 0.8gpm though so it worked fine as long as I didn't mix in cold. Cranked the temp to 131F on the unit and we'll see if it improves next time. From a 80,000 BTU unit I was only expecting 1 shower at a time etc...anyway. If you have multiple family members or need more GPM, get a Takagi.

Failed
“I’m pretty frustrated with this tankless water heater. It gave me an E1 error code after working for only a short time. When I reached out to customer service, they didn’t pinpoint the actual problem, but instead suggested I pay for a new board or a flame sensor—just guessing at solutions. Honestly, I’m done with it. I’ll just buy a whole new unit rather than keep throwing money at this one.”

Best priced water heater on the market!!
What a great and cheaply priced water heater! I live above 3000 feet and there are no problems with heating infloor pipes. You won't find a simpler system than this one! Perfect for my application!

Open package, Not sure if it has already been used
Looks like someone has returned, it got re-packaged, but not even in new packaging. That said it works well.
