WOW - GREAT VICE!
Bought this for a home depot tool box that has a wood top. Got tired of building work benches in the garage only to leave them behind when I move. So, I figured, I'd make a mobile one. I've had two 4.5" vices that Home Depot sells and they don't compare to this one. For a little more you can buy this one and it's AWESOME. Solid as a rock, huge anvil, and the levers are so fluid. Bolted down, this one does not move and there is zero play when you lock it up. It also weighs a lot compared to the other cheap same size vice I have. It's perfect for gun and golf smithing which is what I use it for.

A solid vice at a good price
Got this to attach to a pickup truck hitch mount. Solid and well made, good value. Works well with smooth jaw motion and well aligned jaws; the swivel base also works well.

Great Vise With One Weird Issue
I bought this vise on the recommendation of a YouTuber. It's the perfect size for my 30" X 60" workbench. It's super sturdy and Yost has an excellent reputation. The one thing I have experienced is: if I clamp something in it and the item is not perfectly centered over the beam, The vise will jam when I loosen the jaw. It takes me having to give the outboard jaw a firm but not crazy hard bump on the side with the palm of my hand to release it. I have gotten used to it and I don't know if this is something common to this model but it's what happens to mine. Otherwise, I'm happy with it.

Solid basic vise
The Yost 445 4.5" pipe vise is a good quality, solid product at a reasonable price. I particularly like the inverted U-shaped shaft that covers the clamping screw and thus prevents things like metal shavings from falling onto the screw and causing premature wear. The jaws are well aligned. Beneath the jaws are two sets of notches for holding round pipe securely. Behind the stationary jaw is a generous pounding surface. This vise can be rotated 360° and features two lockdown clamps, which means that it won't move or slip during operations. I also like the rubber rings at each end of the crank arm which keep things quiet. The cast iron body has been ground so that there are no uneven seams or sharp casting burrs. Finally, the vise has a nice paint finish.

This little beast is the real deal.
I am very impressed with this vise, and expect it'll be in service long after I'm gone. So, yeah, 5-stars well-earned. But DON'T use the paper "mounting template" they provide. It is laughably wrong in so many ways. One wonders who gave it a green light! First, it explicitly states that it is "Not to Scale". Say what? Tell me: what use is a "template" that doesn't match the actual item to be mounted? Especially since the true footprint would easily fit on the page at 1:1 scale anyway! Are they just messing with us? But ... it actually *is* pretty close to 1:1 scale! That is, the distance between the printed holes is pretty close to what is specified; where it says 3-15/16", it actually measures 3-15/16". Even so, the four bolt holes on the *template* form a TRAPEZOID, while the four *actual* bolt holes on the vise form a SQUARE! To be fair, it does correctly call for four bolts of 7/16". Just use the vise itself as your template, and you have an excellent tool forever. Five, count 'em FIVE, stars!

Excellent product for the price!
I recently used this vise to change a couple muzzle devices on AR-15's and it worked flawlessly. It has been mounted with 4 large bolts onto a heavy desk and it's a great tool to have around. The flat surface is a great functionality to have as well. I would recommend getting a pair of plastic, aluminum/aluminium and brass jaws if you're working on guns. That way you will not mar the finish on them or otherwise damage the look of the firearm by placing parts in the normal jaws. You can get these jaws for a fair price on Amazon. Here is what I have been using: http://www.amazon.com/Olympia-Tools-38-695-Pack-Magnetic/dp/B008BF1VEK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418178609&sr=8-1&keywords=vise+jaw The width the jaws open on this vise is more than enough for most jobs. It's sturdy, came well oiled and the swivel is fairly smooth on it so I highly recommend Yost's products and this one in particular.

Best vise out there
I searched HarborFreight, Tractor Supply, and Lowes. This vise has a higher quality than all the other products I looked at. The price was equal to or better than every other vise I researched. If I had a need for a second vise, I would not hesitate to buy this product again. I would highly recommend this product.

Good from the price point
For light jobs ok...not for heavy duty stuffs. I you need to hammer and knock hard this is not a vise for you. Other than that sawing etc it's suitable. The vise it's a bit light in weight and does not give one a solid feeling when using.

Great vise
Make sure to mount this properly (I used metal washers above and below to distribute pressure and small rubber washers between the vice and my bench top for maximum stability), and it’ll work beautifully. Swivel works great (360 degrees) and it does its job. Super solid and good value.

You get what you pay for! in this case Extra cost is well deserved
I needed a good heavy duty vise that could fit in my limited space, and almost got tempted by the sub £40 "cast/forged" chinese knock off vises, but the images of those pointed to very poor quality. So I did some research, and yep Vises are not cheap for the real deal, and for someone on a budget I cant afford £200+, now this vise is not cheap when compared to the chinese stuff on here, BUT, this thing is VERY well made, it's well finished too, you can immediately see and feel it's a quality peice of kit, and well up to the jobs I have in mind for it, so please don't get conned and buy cheap, you will end up buying twice in the end!, speand that bit more (this was like £80), and buy something that I fully expect to last me a lifetime ;)

I bought this because it was inexpensive and I would ...
I bought this because it was inexpensive and I would need it only a few times a year. So far, I've used it once to assemble a foot valve which required a lot of force to thread two parts together. The vice worked well. Solid.
