Cleanliness and Housekeeping has become a bit of an issue around our plant. I saw this sweeper and bought one unit just to try out on our production floor. We are all getting older and with staff shortages these sweepers were almost a necessity. These worked SO well I bought 3 more, 1 for each dept. Pros: For us this sweeper works best on our vinyl and wood dust from saws. Using this unit on concrete it will sweep up the fine dust perfectly. The 2 rotating front brushes are flat enough that they can reach in/under our wooden 2x4 A-frame racks, spins out the dirt into the center of the sweeper and the large brush on the main wheel axle spins it into the hopper. The hopper is just held in place by gravity... no latches, snaps or straps holding the hopper in place. I am always amazed at just how much "dust" this picks up. You could not see dust but you knew it was there from the tire tracks from our forklift that would be left behind. This sweeper WILL pick all of that up effortlessly. The handle is adjustable but we have them tightened so they are always ready to grab and go! It is just like walking around mowing grass but you are cleaning up your work environment. Cons: and these really are not that bad for our use but... Sweeps best on straight aways because on turns one wheel stops as you pivot which slows down the main brush on the axle so it leaves a little trail behind. If you are planning on ONLY sweeping 'chunks' (small wood/vinyl/aluminum scraps, screws/nuts bolts this sweeper won't be for you. There is a front center castor (office chair wheel) that gets stuck on every 'chunk'. (Like when your shopping cart hits a stone) If there is only an occasional 'chunk' you can steer around so it doesn't hit the center wheel. The bristles are not real stiff so they are not able to lift up heavier items like larger nuts/bolts. If you have any lengths of plastic wrap (from pallets or material deliveries) they will get wrapped around the main brush and you will have to stop and remove it because it will leave behind dirt if any of the bristles become confined. All in All this unit is worth every penny. The Pros far outway the few cons at least for the purposes that we intend to use these sweepers.

our janitorial company got a huge contract for us. It is a 500,000 sqft distribution center with parking lot. This is our first big gig. We prefer less labor, and more machines to do work. But cost effective. I did a lot of research on equipment for the various tasks we had to accomplish. One is the sidewalk around the building, and another is under machinery. I saw these units and decided to try the least expensive. This Karcher S-4. No motor. Just gears that turn when you push it. Let us see what it can do. Yes, with a lot of dust it will put some of it into the air. So a dust mask maybe needed. But does it work. YES IT DOES. I clean the parking lot too. Pickups the cigarette butts, small papers/plastic, etc. Cleaned up the parking lot, sidewalk very quickly. PRO--inexpensive, no motors to fix, no electric, super easy to operate, nothing to break, works well CON--in a high dust area will toss some into the air HIGHLY RECOMMEND--We may purchase another one, and try a upgraded version

Is it perfect? No. Does it work? Yes! This sweeper has limitations, it can’t sweep up hay, straw, or anything that will have a cord or string-like consistency. Feathers are meh. With the brushes that come standard it cannot pick up things like rocks, nails, or heavier items. I think the harder bristle brushes you can buy for wet work would be the better brushes for those types of items, though I haven’t tried. I’ve included video which is of my barn because I desperately wanted video when I was making this purchase. Excuse my one-handed sweeping/recording, it’s not a machine flaw, it’s me running into shelves and getting caught on things because I can’t one-hand drive and record. Amazon only lets you upload ONE video so… sorry! We keep the chickens and ducks in the barn, and it hadn’t been cleaned since November (winter). It’s now the start of March (our first dry days). The barn roof has a leak so some the poop gets wet and then stuck to the floor even more. The floor is stained, but I think that the scrapings and subsequent sweeping are fairly clear. It does a really good job when you go forward. It doesn’t turn the greatest, but I found when I kept it in forward motion by turning it swept consistently. Definitely lift up the back of the sweeper (the machine) before taking out the dust bin part. I found this slid everything to the front of the sweeper and therefore slid everything in the collection bin to its bottom, this helped prevent loss at the back. Yes, it still occurred, but manageably. Dust: definitely cut down on dust! It does a good job getting along walls, and it made cleaning the barn go a whole hell of a lot faster. In my opinion it’s a buy if you have a large space that needs to be swept. I recommend getting the harder brushes when you buy it.

What a great way to sweep a large floor with little effort and great results! Should've purchased one of these years ago...no more pushing a broom!!

I live on a gravel road and always need to sweep our garage only to carefully sweep the garage and have dust everywhere. This is a game changer if you need to sweep a smooth floor and keep the dust down. I would by again or purchase for someone as a gift. Pros: Keeps dust down to a minimum Makes fast work of sweeping Super easy to push Easy to dump bin Folds nice and flat against wall if you have a hook. Easy to put together Cons: Need to sweep in a straight line as it will leave debris when turning corners. Will need to get creative to sweep different directions to get what is left when turning. Outside brushes can fall off if bumping into things hard. Easy to put brushes back on. Found dumping bin more often will clean better. Won’t get bigger pieces unless pushing faster to speed up self-propelled rear sweeper by throw material into bin faster.

Comes ready to go out of the box. This does a great job on dust and small particle items, but twigs and sticks will bog it down. We had a large concrete area that would get dusty and have dirt. This would pick up 80-90% of the dirt and disposal is simple with the onboard bucket. It tends to leave a trail of debris, especially when making a turn. Our surface is not all exactly level and those lower areas it doesn't get dirt out of. It would have trouble on a non smooth surface like asphalt. Greatest issues it that it is not durable. The plastic gears in the wheels are soft and wear out quickly to where the unit doesn't function. A small twig can obstruct the device and stop the wheels from turning. After too many of the small obstructions, the gears get worn and the device will not roll well. The company was good and replaced the first one under warranty, but the second one didn't last but a couple of months. Debris the size of sawdust would be ideal, sand is bit too small, twig and small sticks will drive it to an early death.

I purchased this for the 4th of July event cleanup after manually completing this task for the past several years. Previously, we would have a group of volunteers, armed with push brooms, leaf blowers, etc. The task would take quite some time and involve a bit of sweat. This year, I saw this product and thought with this year's 4th of July event being planned larger than previous years, I would try something else for a change. I am sure happy I did. I'll tell you, after the event had concluded, and the volunteers has amassed, broom sticks and power tools in hand, I stepped up with my bright shiny new "Street sweeper" as everyone called it, and asked the group to watch and see how this will do. I took off across the fireworks debris area in a straight line, focusing in front of me, being led by a flashlight from one of the volunteers and when arriving at the distant end, turned to see the flashlight shine across the path I just walked and saw that the path was unbelievable clear. I was sure it would pick up some stuff and had anticipated needing several passes due to the sheer amount of debris, from motor shell cubes to large pieces of paper from large show cakes. The fine debris, the fireworks granuals that cover the ground after a large show, falls to the ground was swept up, again to my amazement. I looked at the group of volunteers, who at this time had ALL laid their tools and brooms into the ground and lined up to "Take turns" pushing this across the debris field. We were amazed at the ability to grab small papers and plastic from 10 large confetti blasters (That filled the bin about 4 times by itself, lol). Just amazed, not only at the performance, but also that days later, I am receiving calls from volunteers, asking about the street sweeper and where to get one. Not sure if this ended up being the star of the show, or the fireworks, but safe to say it's a close tie. Very happy with the performance and by the way, we finished the cleanup in apx 20 minutes, with minimal effort as compared to earlier years, without this very cool street sweeper. The following day, I had several comments about how the cleanup thus year had cleaned far more debris than previous years.

It's surprisingly useful and satisfying to see all kinds of debris it can pick up ! Here in Utah the pine needles and bramble from trees and leaves and even chunks of deteriorating blacktop all get sweeped into the bin! I got the residential one and it gets built in a few turns of 3 large fancy toggle screws! No dust like a lawn mower kicks up. Silent in comparison to a mower even if the mower has a high lift blade this this is far more complete and makes a wider pass. The bin gets full and it's easy because of the wide handle.. pretty cool new way and I was using 2 ego battery blowers simultaneously before I found this little gem. Takes less space than a mower since it's flat and fairly light Weight it can be hung or stored on a big shelf or the main upper handle removed with 2 turn screws.. fun to sweep very satisfying maneuvering...agile. Now the negativives; Yet the bin Handel keeps coming off and the bin is so small that it must be emptied frequently. The ft brushes loom deformed already and I've only had it a week... sigh... buying $30 for new ft brushes...........

I use this for sweeping up my large car park and have found it the best purchase bye far this year. I don’t need to plug it in and it picks up stones, twigs and stones easy.

We were blown away by how well this sweeper works in our bird seed plant. It handles dust, seed, dirt, and general debris with ease, and cleans right up to the edges of pallets and walls. The team hasn’t stopped using it since it arrived. It worked so well that I ordered a second one the very next morning. Well done, Karcher⁠
