Is the base removable? I am interested in using this on top of a 12 inch round table. Would it be able to remove the lazy susan base so it sits flat?

There is a ball bearing roller coaster between the base and the tray and there’s no easy way for separating them without breaking. You can take your chance and try to carefully smash the base; after all, it’s only about $35 to lose, right?

Is it a real Lazy Susan that turns like a wheel in place or just a round marble piece?

What is the height from table surface to to top surface of the lazy susan?

It sits close to the table. I love mine. It is on the cabinet in the corner by the stove with oils and salt/pepper. I love it. It would work great on table.

Is there possibly a weight rating for this product? We'll be placing a 12 3/4 piece of 1 1/4 inch granite on top of this, approx 5 lbs.

In total honesty, I have not placed anything that heavy on it. But it is very well made and sturdy. I would not hesitate to place something on it that weighed 5 pounds. You need to take care when placing the grant, but it should be fine in my opinion.
