I've searched for the perfect mug warmer for a few weeks, read a lot of reviews, even watched a few videos. I am very happy that this is the one that I ended up with. One of the things I read was that most "regular" mugs will not work as well on a mug warmer if they have that rim around the bottom. All of my mugs at home have that, so I needed a mug/warmer combo. PROS: Comes with a ceramic mug, which is very important to me, as I enjoy coffee so much better in a ceramic mug. I no longer have to rush drinking coffee, and I no longer have to worry about it getting cold. This is perfect. It keeps the coffee hot for as long as you keep it on the warmer, and it's turned on. I believe it shuts off automatically after 4 hrs. I have only had it on for maybe an hour or so. It keeps coffee much warmer with the lid on it, but it even works with the lid off. It's an amazing feeling when you get to the bottom of the cup, and the coffee is still piping hot! No more cold last few sips! I love the look of this mug. Black with a wooden, sturdy handle and lid. CONS:Nothing on this "cons" list is worth removing a star from the review. Just a few little things I thought I would mention. The mug has a metal plate on the bottom that gets extremely hot, I did slightly burn my finger on it. Definitely my fault because I'm not used to using a mug warmer. Lesson learned! The on/off button is extremely sensitive. It only requires the slightest touch to turn on/off. Just something to look out for, and unplugging it when not in use would help with this. It has two settings so you can keep it hot or warm. The bottom of the mug is flat and metal which is what allows it to make the drink hot. I don't use the top wood piece that comes with it, as it get filled with condensation and is messy. There's really no need for it as the device keeps the drink hot without it. I already had mine. The cup's bottom metal shield helps distribute heat evenly and faster...and the black exterior feels terrific in the hands. The wooden handle is great looking but when the cup is heated in the microwave, it gets too hot to handle. OK, I know better than to microwave this cup but I like my Cappuccino really hot and that helps me elevate its temperature. So far, no damage has been done to my cup.
