can the pro core be used in place of the 18 volt cool pac

Yes the procore batteries use 20700 cells instead of the old 18650 cells on the previous generation of battery. Longer runtime and better performance even from bosch tools that are not (bi turbo) . The newer batteries are a little more expensive but worth it!

Is the 5.5amp procore battery a genuine bosch battery? On the bosch offical website I can only see a 4, 8 and 12 amp offered.

Hello I already own a 4amp battery and saw the 5.5 amp and decided to buy last year. So far it's great and seems to me to be genuine. Came in all the same packaging and performance is great. It's a great addition to my Bosch 18V set. I hope this helps.
