A great eyepiece
i had no idea who Astromania was but the specs of the eyepiece made me curious. they looked very similar to the Celestion X-cels which ive owned before and really liked but half the cost. i wanted an eyepiece with a twist cup and larger field than standard so this seemed to be what i was looking for.upon receiving it i could tell right away this is a very good affordable eyepiece before it went into my scope, it was heavy and had a nice thick rubber eye guard, and rubber grip around the eyepiece itself.my first target was Jupiter and knew about 15 seconds after i focused it i had found a winner. the image was nice and sharp right to the edges which a lot of the cheaper eyepieces could not do. it had a nice field of view and let in lots of light. the bands and storm eye of Jupiter were visible along with its 4 brighter moons. a real nice treat overall.2nd stop Saturn. While Saturn doesnt show us the goodies Jupiter has it still quite an impressive sight to see with its rings clearly visible around the planet. everything was nice and sharp and did not disappoint.last stop the moon. you can see craters galore with this, the moon usually isnt exciting for me but when you can see it up close it really is something impressive. the only downside is the moon feels like you are going blind its so bright.i am more than satisfied with this eyepiece and will more than likely purchase a few more to have a nice spread of useful magnification.this 7.5mm eyepiece was used in a Orion Spaceprobe 130ST

Excellent eyepiece. A pleasant surprise in a world of frequent disappointment.
You know how some eyepieces seem to "snap" into focus? And how fun they are to use?Do you have a drawer full of low-grade eyepieces that have a muddy, incoherent focus? False color? Will not allow the usable magnification for your telescope? This Astromania 1.25" 4mm 58-Degree Planetary Eyepiece is a pleasant surprise in a world of frequent disappointment. It is as easy to use as any of my 10mm eyepieces and seems to snap into a sharp focus.Until I spent the 49.95 to buy this one, I never had a 4mm eyepiece that was usable. It exceeds all expectations:False color: NONEField of view: Fantastic. It really does have an apparent FOV of 58 DegreesEye relief: Excellent. Glasses friendlyFocus: EASY to focus.Flatness: Pinpoint stars from edge to edge.Contrast: Very good contrast. If you are not happy with your current 4mm eyepiece, do yourself a favor and get one of these. There would be no point in stepping up to an expensive, name-brand eyepiece that will not outperform this one.Ten stars.I added the picture to the review. It was snapped with my iPhone simply held up to the 4mm eyepiece. Not a great astro picture, but it does give you some idea of the 4mm eyepiece attached to a 910 mm focal length telescope.

Works well, but I don't love this eyepiece design.
While this eyepiece is sharp and seems high quality, I am not a fan of this TMB eyepiece design. Be aware of what you are buying. While much better than your cheap telescope eyepieces, this design does not have long eye relief or a wide field of view. Again, still better than most cheap telescope eyepieces. But the optical design is older and if you want a excellent planetary eyepiece, there are better options.

Good planetary eyepiece
I used the eyepiece with a 6 inch, f5 reflector on an equatorial mount. Nice planetary images in the center of the field, a small amount of distortion near the edges. Field of view is decent, but you may find it to be a bit limited if your scope does not have an equatorial mount. Good planetary image for the money.

Very comfortable
Purchased for a Zhummell Z130 telescope. It's a130 x 650 f5. I purchased the telescope maybe 2-3 years ago and stuck with the eyepieces supplied, which were a 10 mm and 25mm. Up to now the only accessories I purchased prior to this was a 2x Barlow which worked perfectly and a 7x21 zoom, which is fine for the kids, neighbors, and quick peeks at select things on freezing winter nights.25mmThis one is a wow! Compared to the standard 25 mm, the view is wider, flat, and clear from edge to edge. When viewing through the standard 25mm that came with the scope, it feels cramped and dull now. Everything in this eyepiece purview can be seen without moving the eyeball everywhere to try and capture a vision. When comparing the two I can't go back now. Especially after comparing views of Sirius and Orion's Nebula. Oh wow!9mmI never thought I'd purchase anything smaller than the 10 mm after poking my eye out a few times. This 9 mm is COMFORTABLE to look through. It has a wide, spacious feel to the view when compared to the standard 10 mm plossl the scope came with. The fold up eye cup gives me a cheat to reference the bridge of my nose for longer views, versus trying to hold and balance my head without a brace or balance. The view is absolutely shocking when compared to my original two lenses. Don't get me wrong, the original eyepieces are good. I spent the last few years learning and seeing things in completely new ways, without complaint. This is a step up in clarity, contrast, comfort and spaciousness.I am pleasantly surprised.4mmSaturn, Jupiter, Mars are fascinating with the 10mm and barlow. The 7mm range on the zoom eyepiece is a struggle sometimes getting just the right focus. The 4 mm did not disappoint. Just like the other two lenses, it is comfortable to view through. Every tone of Black, white, and grey announce themselves with a punch. The one caveat pairing this lense with a small scope like mine is that everything moves fast. This one is going to make me upgrade my manual skills following planets with this scope.I'm happy with my purchases25 for searching and star hopping9 for a closer view4 for the planets and mountain ranges on the moon.I'm going to go out and amaze myself ALL over again.
