They are not cheap $$, but you get what you pay for. The crew socks are great for my light hiking boots and approach shoes. The boot socks are a perfect fit for my 10" steel toed work boots. Padded in all the right places. What makes these socks a real winner though is the blend of materials they are made from. I can wear the socks in leather work boots and my feet stay dry at 90 Deg. temps. and warm at 10 Deg. temps all day. Neat color combinations too. "Made in Vermont" on the tag has always been a symbol of quality to me as a Native Vermonter. Lately, it's been a bit over-used though and some products are just... meh? Having several inches of sock above the boot top helps you to keep them cinched up properly. The crew sock and an 8" boot (work boot, hiking boot) will leave you having to make more adjustments during the course of the day, whereas, the boot top size sock keeps them from diving down into the boot and everything seems to stay in-place.
