Compare well to 5.11, more fitting.
I purchased a 34-32, beige. Fits well. I usually buy 5.11, these seem to compare as quality, at least after 1-week use. We shall see long term. Fabric has the feel of thick textured cotton, color is darker/ than 5.11 beige. 5.11 are pretty good at repelling stains, we will have to see how these hold up with time. I like the pockets arrangement and the two side zippers. Velcro and a zipper fly is used for the front, not buttons. Velcro allows for better waist belt fit, I am worrying about long term, but I wear these with a 1.5-inch nylon or leather gun belt, so it should not matter much. Crotch is comfortable, back rise is less baggy than 5.11, more fit. knee pads run a bit high on the thigh but keen is is protected. legs are roomy, allow for good conceal carry for a backup gun. Front and back main pockets are deep, and allow for comfortable carry of a small pocket gun (SW Bodyguard or Sig 238 for example) and no obvious print, if coupled to a rigid leather pocket holster. Contrary to 5.11 there are no just-above-the keen cargo pockets, only the zipper pockets. I may miss those over time.

Nice upgrade from 5.11 Apex pants
Over the years, worn different styles of 5.11 pants. Most recently, it's Apex. I love cargo pockets but hate Velcro. Apex is one of the very few tactical pants that use zipper. Lately, job requires being on my knees more often and sadly, Apex has no knee pad pockets. Searched in vain because there are very few pants with zipper cargo and knee pad pockets. Ran into Helikon Tex UTP by accident on YouTube and ordered one to try. Very impressed! All my 5.11 are W34 and L30. Helikon only comes in L32 so ordered W34 L32 instead. The fit is almost identical to Apex. I am 5'7 155 lbs. Length needs to be altered for a few dollars, no big deal. It uses Velcro instead of a button for waist. Hate Velcro but can live with it. Unlike pockets, won't be opening/closing it all day long.Cargo pockets are smaller than typical pants because about 30% is taken up by the thigh pocket. Still plenty big for wallet/phone. My Lg G6 (6" x 3") stands up fine with room to spare. Knee pad pockets are very nicely designed. Insert pad from bottom opening and most importantly, there is a "ledge" that would prevent pad from coming out. Some knee pad pockets (looking at you LAPG) have no ledge so the pad could slip out. What were they thinking? By the way, if you are only on your knees occasionally, consider using an old yoga mat. You can cut that to form fit in a knee pocket and it will not shift around.Polycotton Canvas is heavier than Apex as expected. You want this to use with knee pads anyway. Pants is not baggy at all. About the same as my Apex and Stryke. You won’t look like MC Hammer but don’t expect skinny jeans fit either. It is not as low profile as Apex because of the upper thigh pockets. But you won’t look like mall ninja either, especially if you choose darker colors. Overall, a great pair of pants. Highly recommended A++++

IMO, greatest pants ever.
I wear these dang near daily. The best pants I have ever owned. Zippered side pockets, Velcro instead of button, perfect magazine pockets for AR or phone. I wear these traveling so I don't have to carry a bag, and have plenty of room to carry things for my wife so she doesn't have to tote her purse around. The way they sit on the hips plus the elastic waistband allowed for full pockets without feeling weighed down. I've had to run and sprint with full pockets without having to hike my pants up. That says enough right there. Side pockets are a little higher than typical cargo pants so you don't have to do some kinda side bend to retrieve stuff from them. I put drawstrings in the ankle cuffs, which have channels sewn in, and have yet to get kneepads, though the way the pad pocket is situated makes me think that when bent down they'll actually cover your knees, unlike some which can ride up. Had a pair in coyote (preferred color) for a year, and had to get another pair, I love them so much. They have held up very well in pretty rigged hiking, mechanic work, and carpentry. I'll likely get a pair of the more slacks/chinos style for dressing up. Definitely worth every last dime.Navy color definitely makes you look like a paramedic, though, so if that's not what you are or a look yer going for, be aware.

One trick pony - unless you’re a range rat - and the zipper failed
“Cool” pants but it ends there. Zipper blew out on the first day of wear so they failed. IF the zipper held, the pants would have been perfect for range day shooting if you’re doing tons of reloads, don’t want to run a dump pouch, and value huge open pockets. If you want to secure gear the zipper pockets and Velcro tool pouches work well. The huge open pockets will make you wonder what fell out if you go prone or work in/out of a vehicle. They have that HUGE ASS cut which means it looks like you’re wearing a diaper. Not a fit I value. Overall they were cool but impractical outside of a tactical bay shooting session. Very loose fit and sizing was a size larger than my measured waist. Final thoughts? Better than any 5.11 but not as good as Crye or Kitanica etc. and mega-dorky if you’re into that. If you want mobility and low profile these are not it. If you need to carry magazines, IFAKs, gloves, etc. in your pants, they kick ass.

Great winterweight utility pant
I have reviewed the outdoor version of these which I think are also fantastic.PROs:-Great fit-The cargo pockets are perfectly sized and can be opened with one hand, no more reaching over with the other.-The material is bombproof. These are very similar to the Mountain Kahki pants I own, only these are coated with a water repellant.CONs:-I wish this material was a bit more stretchy (similar to 5.11 materials).-The back pockets are open top (a zippered closure would have been better). All in all these are a fantastic pant. Suitable for tactical work but not so crazy tacticool that they can not be worn around town. Comfortable and tough. Probably a bit heavy for summer wear - I got mine for winter.

Perfect outdoor/work trousers.
I now own several pairs of both long and short UTP's, and they are probably my favourite outdoor trousers. The fit is fantastic, using elastic in the waistband, (Check sizing though as it appears to fit slightly small, I'm usually an XL/36-38" waist, but use XXL for Helikon.) and the fabric stretchy, and although not technically waterproof, will brush off showers, and even if they do get wet, dry quickly. Now for my favourite feature. POCKETSES EVERYWHERE!! If you put your Precious in any one of them and forget which, you'll be checking yourself for ages!! Although designed for military/operator use, and as such having "Mag" pockets, as well as traditional, they still fit everyday EDC items such as torches, multitools, penknives, etc quite subtly. There are two bigger pockets on the front which fit most smartphones perfectly, keeping them snug and preventing them falling out. There's maybe a dozen pockets all in all, if you include the knee pouch, which is designed to keep kneepads secure, though they don't come with the trousers. Although I use the standard pairs all year round, without major problems, these canvas style are a godsend on hot sweaty days!! On the whole well worth the price, make the investment, you won't regret it.

Comfort and Utility
i bought the pants to use during my hiking trip in Scotland in December 2020. This was my third pair of Helikon Tex pants. I find it to be a very comfortable, versatile pair of pants. The poly cotton canvas kept me warm during the hike and worked well in the windy conditions I found my self in. Positives: tough material so it didn't tear from scrapes on rocks and bracken, enough thickness to keep warm, roomy but not baggy - comfortable for the long walk but still looked okay for walking in town, zippered pockets kept important things from falling out Has inserts for padding which helped (but pads sold separately). Negative - not many just that because its of thicker material, it does absorb some water and took a bit longer to dry when washed.

My Favorite Pants
These are my go-to pants for most occasions now along with the shorts-version. So comfortable and handy. Love the pockets!

Pantalon parfait
