Sun Protection and Comfort in One Stylish Cap!
I recently purchased the Outdoor Research Swift Cap and I am beyond impressed! This cap has been my constant companion on all my outdoor adventures. The lightweight, breathable material makes it perfect for hot, sunny days. I've worn it on long hikes, trail runs, and even a few boating excursions, and it has held up beautifully. The cap's built-in UPF 50+ sun protection is a fantastic feature that gives me peace of mind during prolonged sun exposure. What I love most about the Swift Cap is its comfort and fit. The adjustable back strap allows for a customized fit, ensuring the cap stays in place no matter how vigorous the activity. Despite its sturdy design, it feels incredibly light on the head, almost as if it isn't there at all.As an added bonus, the cap is also quite stylish. I've received several compliments on its sleek design and vibrant color. It's a cap that looks as good in the city as it does on the trail. In conclusion, the Outdoor Research Swift Cap has exceeded all my expectations. It's durable, comfortable, protective, and stylish. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's a definite five-star product!

A well put-together cap for the outdoors
I forgot my hat on a recent climbing trip to Moab. The sun was ferocious, and fortunately a friend lent me his OR Sun Runner cap. As a testament to how much I liked the hat, I ordered an OR hat immediately after I returned. I didn't want the side panels of the Sun Runner cap (I always bring a bandana, and I unfold it and wear it under my hat if I really need to cover my ears and neck), so I ordered the Swift Sun Hat in fatigue. The hat is typical Outdoor Research quality, which is to say excellent. As with the hat I wore in Moab, I think it will be excellent as a sun hat. It is very light and has a very comfortable fit. The adjustment tab has a quick release buckle, which seems useless to me but is very low profile, so that's fine. I really like the 'fatigue' color, which is a nice olive, light enough to not absorb too much sunlight and without the slightly dumpy army-navy store color common to olive drab. It's casual enough looking to not look like I'm trying to golf at Mara-Lago and neat enough looking that I wore it in the rain to an engineering meeting without looking unprofessional. There is one kind of odd aspect to the hat: the mesh side panels are actually the sides of a complete mesh cap. The top of the mesh cap is hidden because the nylon top panel (the olive part, in my case) is actually a completely separate 'awning' secured at the front and the back of the brim. I think the purpose is to provide a bit more insulation and ventilation between the head and the sun. It makes the hat a tad heavier (it's still really light) and I suppose could theoretically catch on brush if you're thrutching through dense vegetation, but honestly I don't think the difference would be really noticeable. Either the Swift or Sun Runner seem to be good choices.Final analysis, I don't see much to criticize. It seems very practical for hot weather and sun, and probably fine in cool weather as well. It packs well and looks cool. It'll probably end up as my go-to hat for hiking, running, and activities in sunny and/or arid areas. Highly recommended.

+10 to Intellect
It can be difficult to find a hat that works for flat, round heads (no, this is not a new Indiana Jones character). My dad and I both have flat topped skulls, ideal for bean bag races, but not ideal for hat fitting. Dad was the original adopter, buying new ones whenever he lost his current edition - a fairly frequent occurrence... He was fan because of the very light material, allowing lots of head ventilation (+10 to intelligence!). The brim is also a nice size, not impeding vision, but providing ample sun protection. For a guy that is exceedingly picky about head-ware, a full endorsement is a significant thing.Personally, I've never been a fan of the hat wearing deal. They pooch out funky on the top of your head (if it's flat like ours), cover your eyes, make your eyebrows sweat, catches your hair, makes your pony tail do weird things...generally annoy the poop right out of you. Gross. What got me on board was much of what made my dad a pro-OR hat ambassador, and that I generally could forget that I was even wearing a hat. Because of the shallower cap, it sits just right on my head and doesn't block my vision. I've never had a problem with hair snags when using the pony tail hole, and I've stuck *a lot* of hair through that thing. Great for hiking, wadding up in a back pack when not in use, or whenever you've got hat-needs.I suggest giving it a try if you're hat picky, or a hat hater. It might change your mind!

Very comfortable, breathable hat for running.
I was looking for a running hat for an upcoming half marathon, so I bought this alongside a Ciele and Sprints Running Cap. Ended up keeping this one out of the three, and I'm glad I did. This OR hat did an outstanding job of keeping sweat out of my eyes and off my face for the whole race, and I think it looked the best of the three. It's very form-fitting compared to the other options I tried on--the other hats kind of 'sat up' higher than necessary, rather than follow the shape of my head. The care instructions say to hand-wash only, but I threw it into the washing machine and dryer every few days and had no problems. Did end up using some black electrical tape on the back adjusting strap to keep it secure, too.

The hat met my expectations for fit and coolness. I've got a 7-1/4" hat size and the adjustable strap enabled it to fit just fine. It is quite airy with mesh all around and exposed directly to air on the sides. I like the fabric strip across the top, as it is light enough to breath while also blocking sunlight. I run with it 3 times per week and use it during other outdoor activities and it has held up very well. The liner around the forehead and sides is soft and holds perspiration, so both comfortable and no sweat in your eyes. I would give it five stars if it was a little more airy and cool, but I'm not sure if any hat is better.

Cool, airy hat
Such a great hat, I got it in two colors for wife and I. Bill provides good sun coverage. Great unisex style, adjustable fit with easy velcro strap at back. Light and airy so ideal for our activities in hot Florida. Washes nicely too!

Best hat I've bought to keep cool
I purchased this hat to keep me cool when hiking. I've purchased a few hats for this purpose but this is the only one that has worked. It super light, breathable, reflects the sun & fits perfectly as it's easily adjustable. Because the peak is structured, it doesn't flop around in the wind like other hats I've bought. Being hypercritical, I wish the mesh sides were a lighter colour to better reflect the sun. Instructions say you can machine wash it but not tried this yet. Overall very happy with the purchase.

Great lightweight hat
Can't beat this hat, it's understated and works very well. It was a good fit and as described and although it isn't the cheapest out there it was worth it for the lightness of the material and the effectiveness of the sunblocking.
