Surprise, this lighter works great for it's intended purpose. Quality is great, as expected from zippo. This has been one of the best lighters I have used in terms of fluid evaporation. Typically, I can go around 2 weeks between fills.

So simple, so effective, it was hard to believe the advertising but this simple technology is just right. I tried all the other lighters and found them all lacking. This simple Zippo lights with every strike of the wheel (no other lighters will do that), once you begin lighting your tobacco the flame is shielded from all wind so it truely is not effected by wind. You use your own inhale to control the flame and light. It works so well I wish I had more stars to give it. Maybe I'm so pleased because of all the wasted time and money on other lighters and pipe lighter technology. Whatever the reasons...I'm am so very happy with this purchase and highly recommend.

I bought the pipe lighter in brushed chrome with black pipe graphic. I've been smoking a pipe for about 20 years, and have been using an IM Corona lighter. A wonderful lighter - so long as there's no wind. Even a light breeze gives it fits. Knowing a few regular Zippo lighter owners who prize their beloved Zippo, I figured I'd give the pipe lighter a try. Price was decent, particularly considering it will last a lifetime. And it works - just as advertised. It was delivered fast, and was exactly what I ordered. Took it outside to try in the wind, and it didn't disappoint. Now I'm pretty sure a really stiff wind might defeat it - but it handles a good stiff breeze way better than my IM Corona ever did. And no scorching the pipe either. I'll keep the Corona, as it's a very nice lighter. But when sitting around the campfire on breezy nights, the Zippo will be right there with me.

I have never had a Zippo lighter that failed me. This is the second lighter I have purchased - it being a standard flame version. The beauty of these products is the ability to replace consumables, such as the wick and flint with easy for a life time of use.

I am reviewing this lighter vs the VVAY pipe lighter I bought from Amazon previously.I will cut/paste same review for both lighters (VVAY vs Zipo, scores in that order)Skill required 5* vs 3* VVay is just a normal lighter, easy to use. Zipo has a learning curve, but it is worth the effortSafety 5* vs 1*. The VVAY is inherently safe, the Zipo uses petrol (not paraffin or something less volatile) and needs v v careful handling.
