Will this work on heat shrink with glue inside. Doing mostly 3/16 to 1/2" ?

yes; I know the kind of heat-activated shrink tubing you speak of. a few others sound like they might not. I actually prefer it when doing small work, about the size you speak of, and yes, with the deflector and 640 degrees, this will melt the glue just fine, so you get the extra adhesion and more water-tight seal
