For some years now, I have had a Creative Motion Laser Sphere light sitting on my desk. Unfortunately, the green LED got damaged, apparently after the Laser Sphere spent too much time sitting near a plasma lamp (plasma lamps and LED lights do NOT play well together!), so that the green LED kept flashing on and off (mostly off!) in an annoying fashion. Apparently, Creative Motion no longer makes the LS (as I write this, Amazon still has four on sale for $50 each, while some scurrilous pirate on ebay is trying to sell one for $199!) So I was delighted to come upon this Aurora Borealis light, which does the same as the LS -- and more -- for under $25! Like the Laser Sphere, the Aurora Borealis has a red laser plus a variety of differently colored LEDs rotating under a prismatic lens. You can remove the faceted plastic dome to project the light show on the ceiling -- or keep the dome on and enjoy the device as a "night light" on your table. You definitely want this "upgraded" model, which comes with a remote control offering a number of options, including a variety of LED effects, lamp brightness, laser on/off, rotation on/off, volume up/down (yes, the device does have a little speaker, if you want to plug in your MP3 player), and timer settings. The AB comes with a USB cord you can plug into your computer, plus an AC plug you can plug into the wall. It also gives you an audio cord to connect to your MP3 player. The speaker doesn't play very loud so I doubt any MP3 fans will get very excited about that feature. But the light itself definitely rocks, both as a night light and a projector lamp. In the former mode, I turn down the brightness a bit; in the latter, I turn it up to max. Your choice! Another reviewer couldn't get the light to pivot vertically on its base as advertised, but it will do so -- just be gentle until you get the feel of it... So if you're always looking for nifty new novelty/party lights to enjoy, step right up! The Aurora Borealis is the real deal... PROS: * Works as a night light or projector lamp. * Multi-colored LEDs and red laser. * Variety of LED phasing effects. * Three levels of brightness. * Plugs into USB port or AC socket. * Adjustable timer (or keep on indefinitely). * Built-in speaker with mini-plug jack and cord. * Remote control governs all functions. * Very reasonably priced! CONS: * None at the moment...

UPDATED: I was about to attempt to return the light and decide whether or not to repurchase when customer service agent Daisy from SOAIY contacted me directly via email. She conveyed her apologies for the broken item and offer to send a replacement and no need to return the defective one. I have to say this is some of the best customer service that I have seen from any company. Hats off to them. As for the light, the new one works perfectly! It really is an amazing little product. All the videos of the product are accurate and it puts out quite the light show. Very soothing and relaxing. Amazing customer service and product. I had high hopes for this item. Was exactly what I was looking for. Took it out, set up quickly. Scanned the directions and then turned it on with the remote. The light show was amazing! I was going to buy 2, but wanted to see how the 1st one did. The light show was amazing for 10 minutes then the unit started to buzz loudly and I went to shut it off with the remote and the remote would not work. Tried the replacement batteries and still the remote would not work. I manually shut it off and tried the remote again and still nothing. Will turn on and work without the remote but the point is to have the remote and I am worried about the audible buzz. I am in Alaska and this is going to be a pain to return. If the unit would work like it did for the 1st 10 minutes it's amazing and I would have bought 2 and recommended it all my friends. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to get this returned.

I originally ordered the first model of this product, without the remote control, overhead cover, brightness and additional timing options and liked the effect it had on my 1.5 year old. It was a good distraction for her to sleep when she didn't want to but needed to sleep. I was really bummed the original model didn't have all these extra features and even moreso when the thing died on us two days after opening the package. Since my daughter liked the lights, we decided to try this one out, too. The features would make this a perfect ten...if they worked. The descriptions states the remote works up to 30 feet away and though that may be, it does not work through doors or walls. So, if she wakes up in the middle of the night, I'd still have to go in there to turn this on. That takes away the benefit of the remote. The brightness feature doesn't work at all. It's nice that this model has a cover that comes on and off, which helps to dim, but it'd still be nice to have the dimming options. I like that this has the option to leave it on for varied periods of time- that is a feature that works. I wish they would add the option for the ball itself to rotate, maybe not electronically but even just manually being able to turn it would help with the brightness that comes from the ball. I can see where they tried to fix that problem by adding a pedestal and dimming options but since 1/2 of those improvements work, the problem is still there. The actual illusions from the ball are good, the laser is an alright addition from the original model but I don't know that it was necessary. The price point for this was great, spot on. I felt like I paid what it was worth, if not for a good price. Overall, despite the problems or flaws, this product still works efficiently for what I needed and I can see that the company wants to make improvements. I think this is a good product and hopefully they continue to work on it.

Makes you feel at peace from the rest of the world. I'm a six year breast cancer survivor. And this makes me feel pretty amazing! I feel so alive! There are multiple colors, various changing light patterns, and color modes. In a darkened room, it transforms your ceiling and walls into another space and time. It is just so fascinating! It really moves you. The first time that I watched it ... I was in awe. What beautiful colors and dreams that you may have after viewing the show, falling asleep to... ★,｡･:*:･ﾟ☆ My dreams have become more vivid and colorful. The first night falling asleep to the lights, I dreamt of these really bright green rolling hills. Don't forget to remove the dome cover for brighter colors! With it, it makes a beautiful night light. It is so relaxing, calming, especially for my dog. Since the nightly light and music shows, he seems to have no more nightmares. I bought my Godson the first generation of this projector last year for Christmas. He loved it! I like how this one you can play music through it and set a time limit. Even though, I prefer to play the music on the stereo over its small speakers. I like it a little more "symphonic" ... a little brighter ... This thing looks cool. But it has some pretty bad flaws. I've owned this about a year now. On full power it works well in every mode. It lights a bed room up pretty well and it looks good. But that's all it does well. But that's all it does well. It's not quite bright enough if you were to use it in a livening room. And when on 100% it's too bright to go to bed under in a bed room. on 50% or 25% its dim enough to go to sleep under but any mode that gradually shifts colors becomes jittery. The color changes go in very clear power steps and it kills the affect. Instead of relaxed you find yourself looking at how poorly the effect looks on those settings. So you are forced to use setting that stick to only green, red, or blue. The cover/ defuser gets rid of the laser effects and all the cool patterns. It just makes it look bad so dont use it. The bluetooth or aux input works but the sound quality is awful. My phone's speakers sound better than it. The timer auto off setting works well. No complaints. Overall its does an ok job. When it's on full power it looks good. And on the low light settings you are limited to only 3 patterns that dont look terrible. Over the year I've had it, it hasn't stopped working so there is that going for it.

I was honestly impressed with the quality of this item for the $35 I paid. The bluetooth/white-noise speaker is more than loud enough for it's size. Plastic feels thick and durable for both the rippled light wheel and the main housing of the unit. Since it's using LEDs and a laser for the lights, I'm sure they'll last a long time. And given how simple the device itself is, I'm assuming the internals are of the same quality as the rest. I'm feeling confident in having gifted these to my five nieces and nephews, all from different families. Basically, I took a chance and got one for each house. =) When the first one was delivered I took it out and played with it for an hour, and it's gorgeous. The remote is easy to use, once you understand that the track forward/reverse buttons are also the volume buttons. (Just tap when in white-noise mode or press and hold when in bluetooth mode, to adjust the volume.) The light intensity adjustments are very handy, since it'd be very bright in a small, dark room at the lowest setting. But, it could probably fill a 200 square foot room at the brightest setting. Just remember it's an aurora light show, not a lamp. lol It's not dim, but you're not going to be able to easily read a book with just this on in a large room. You will get a colorful light show the dances around on the ceiling. Note: Do not look into the lights/laser at even the lowest setting when the smoked cover is not on! So far, the kids all love them. No one has had any trouble plugging them in. Though, I did need to point out the the smoked cover can be removed to shine the aurora on the ceiling. Otherwise, the smoked cover really dims down the lights at even the highest setting, so it can be used as a soft nightlight. The box doesn't really make it clear that it's a dual purpose unit and most people don't actually read the entire manual. ;) Speaking of, the manual is fairly well written. You can tell it was translated to English, but there are just a few grammatical/syntax errors. They were just minor errors, which are no trouble to overlook and still understand the meaning of the sentence. All in all it's a really fun, well made unit that was definitely worth what I paid. Fulfillment by Amazon meant I could be certain they would arrive before Christmas. And it turned out to be such a unique gift that the kids and parents were excited by it. My only regret is not buying myself one...

6/8/16- UPDATE**** I decided to contact the seller in the middle of the night to explain the situation with the remote. I was shocked to see a quick response from someone In the middle of the night apologizing for the remote issue and immediately mailed a new remote and followed up with a tracking #. The remote arrived within 24 hours. The customer svc has been outstanding and that alone they deserve 5 star. Now that I can easily adjust the light with the remote it's been fantastic!!!! So many options to chose from depending on your mood plus the timer and dim/bright feature are my favorite!!! So glad I made this purchase and decided to reach out to the seller regarding the remote!! The light, remote & customer svc each get 5 stars! Highly recommend this light/remote set! ***6/6/16**** I purchased this upgrade version specifically for the remote so that I can set the timer or turn off the item from 5 steps away when I'm at my kids bedroom door. The light itself is great! So many options and my kids and cat love it! But save your money and skip the upgrade with the remote. I have tried it for over 1.5 weeks pointing from all different angles & directions. I even had it inches away from the unit and nothing! the remote does nothing but now collecting dust. I've been meaning to call Amazon to share this feedback but I keep forgetting until it's nighttime and I'm trying to use the remote again. I keep getting more & more frustrated. The light itself is 5 star! Crisp, clear and tons of fun for the kids!!! Would highly recommend the light but save your money and don't bother with the remote! The remote gets 0 stars!

I purchased this product to provide a calling environment for my 6 month old to sleep. It works pretty well, but some improvements can be made. Pros: -Lots of choices for the light show. There are a wide number of light patterns to choose from. There are three brightness settings, plus the ability to turn off the lights. There is also a darkening lens, so a total of seven brightness levels are available. Regardless of how much light is desired, you should be able to find something that suits your needs. -Light patterns aren't too repetitive and lots of color combinations and patterns are available. This keeps it interesting for adults and babies. -There are six sounds to choose from in addition to Bluetooth, so there are lots of choices there, too. The sounds also are not overly repetitive. -There is a remote control. -The device has a sleep timer. Cons: -The remote is not backlit. -The remote uses IR technology as opposed to RF. This means that there must be a line of sight between the remote and the IR sensor on the device. This limits where you can place the device in the room and you may have to hit a button more than once before the device reacts. -Volume can be adjusted for Bluetooth audio; however, if volume can be adjusted for any of the pre-programmed white noise sounds, I haven't figured out how to adjust it. If I don't have the device on before I bring my baby into the room, turning it on will wake baby up because sure noise volume can't be turned on and adjusted up gradually. -The speaker lacks bass, so white noise doesn't cover the full audible spectrum. Because babies seem to find lower frequencies soothing, it doesn't work quite as well as it could. If you're willing to work around the shortcomings, this item works very well. With a few design tweaks, it would be perfect.

Loved it. Just the part where it squeaks a little when the rotation mode is on. Not very loud but distinct. :\ Otherwire loved the light. Tripped my @$$ off! :D

Fun but restrict your imagination

Muy bonito, pero se descompuso y dejo de girar menos de 30 minutos después de que lo comenzamos a usar... Cómo que trae un motor malísimo barato. Y lo peor es que si había gente quejándose de esto pero no vimos las quejas :/ no lo compren.
