Why add Titanium Dioxide to a product labeled as natural?

Titanium dioxide has been used for a century in a range of industrial and consumer products, including paints, coatings, adhesives, paper, plastics and rubber, printing inks, coated fabrics and textiles, as well as ceramics, floor coverings, roofing materials, cosmetics, toothpaste, soap, water treatment agents. The principal natural source of titanium dioxide is mined ilmenite ore, which contains 45-60 percent TiO2. From this, or an enriched derivative (known as titanium slag), pure TiO2 can be produced using the sulphate or chloride process.

Is there a way to determine if you received a fake product??

I suppose if you took it to a lab, they could tell you. Otherwise doubtful under most circumstances could you tell if fake.
