Right out of the box, the crown of the hat is all dented up and crumpled, like it was taken from the bottom of a stack of old hats. I can attempt to reshape it myself, but it's frustrating to see how little effort goes into packing. I definitely love the hat, and it fits beautifully with my neo-victorian outfit, but I don't want to buy again if my purchase gets beat up before boxing.

First the good news. This hat is amazing for the price. It is a very weighty, real wool felt hat. Definitely not a "costume" hat. It comes with adhesive pads to fine tune the fitting if you are between sizes. It seems very well made and a bargain at this price.Now the bad news. Amazon has now shipped two of these to me in bags NOT boxes. They both came to me dented and with creases. I ordered a second to see if it would be in any better shape and it was actually way worse. This absolutely cannot be blamed on the delivery person because, as I stated, it was shipped in a BAG. The horrendous condition of the second hat actually gave me hope that I could fix the first one. I looked up a couple of youtube videos and actually had good success in fixing it.If you are not comfortable trying to fix a dented and creased wool felt hat, I simply cannot recommend ordering this hat from Amazon. I hate to say that because the hat itself is really great. It was really hard for me to decide how to rate it. I really wanted to give it 5*s but simply couldn't because of the condition it arrived in.

Update: I have an iron that shoots pretty powerful steam. I watched a couple of YouTube videos. It took me about 45 minutes to get the hat back to 90% of new. We're keeping it. It's not perfect, and it took some work, but my husband loves the hat.My hubs dutifully measured his head before buying this hat. Good news! It fits! Delivery time was pretty long. We ordered August 25. Delivery window was from September 16 to September 23. It arrived on September 19. Fair, but if you are used to getting stuff within 7 days on your Prime Delivery Day . . . this item won't be that. The real reason for hacking off a couple of stars is because the box (and its contents) were crushed. I am going to try to steam and re-shape it tomorrow. If I am successful, I will update with how difficult it was. If I am unsuccessful, I will return and update with how difficult it was. It was a good price for what seems to be a quality hat. Hope I can return it to its former glory.

I love that this Derby is not a flimsy costume hat, but a real, stiff Derby. It is rigid, as they were originally made, to protect one's head from muggers and while riding. The felt is sturdy and well made, and the shape is elegant. It fits perfectly, though I have a large head. If you wear a hat larger than 7-3/4, the large might not fit you. The packaging it was shipped in preserved the shape and quality of the hat, and I received it within a couple of weeks, rather than the 2 months that had been estimated. Overall, a wonderful hat-buying experience.

Nice value & great hat for the money , but I had to wait more than 8 weeks to receive it . So disappointed it took so long to receive. I like the hat a lot if I ordered it again I would go one size larger but overall it’s a great looking hat . Hand made but shouldn’t take that long to receive it . That’s why it only got 4 stars ⭐️ very slow delivery.

I initially purchased this hat from a different brand at twice the cost, but returned it because it didn't fit quite right. Ordered this hat, which is just as good of quality and a much better deal. Know that this type of hat is supposed to be stiff, so it is NOT crushable or flexible in any way. I had to slightly steam and stretch it to fit my head, making the opening more oval than round, but this was not challenging if you know how to do it properly and it now fits like a champ.

I choose my size and it fit perfectly. The line and the material are perfect. Use it for my daughter’s birthday for a 1920’s theme and I was Charlie. Was just perfect
