120-220v Power R600 UV Light Coil Cleaner for HVAC AC 14" Germicidal Bulb with Magnet

The A/C company that services my unit was charging me a CRAZY amount of money to add a UV light to my air handler... in the hundreds of dollars.I did my homework and after checking a lot of option I opted for this light/model in particular. This unit has a selector that allows you to choose between 110V or 220V.Note that if you decide to install it yourself, you have to know something about electricity; especially if your unit runs on 220 volts. Once I identify the two points where I would need to attach the wires, installation was a breeze.The light is long and that is a real plus because it covers a larger area, of course. The light holder is a little big but that is not necessarily bad. The magnet is strong enough to hold it in place.By the way, part of the research I did included knowing how much replacement light bulbs would cost and how easy they are to come by. The replacements for this unit are not very cheap but they are affordable compared to others that cost almost as much as the entire unit. Do you homework on it.All in all, I know UV lights have a set limited lifespan of about a year. I am hoping at least the ballast will last me a few years.

I installed it in the air handler under the A of the cooling coils. The magnetic bracket made attaching it easy.My HVAC is brand new so now was a good time to add it. It's wired for always on 24/7 so I hope that is how it is supposed to be.

The installation was very difficult ONLY because my furnace is super compacted and has weird tubes everywhere. However, I am a complete newbie and was able to drill a hole and install it - so you can too. When I bought my house, it was REEKING of mildew to the point we didn't even use the A/C. I then decided to buy this and try it out and it immediately reduced the smell by like 90%. After a bit, it was completely gone. However, I came back today to buy a replacement bulb because the A/C guy said they lose efficacy after a year or two. It's been one year and after some research, it looks like 40% degradation occurs after 12 months. This is why I started smelling stuff again, I believe. I came by to drop a review b/c this worked very well for 1 year.

The product arrived promptly and I bought the extended warranty. My son is an HVAC tech, so he will put this on, maybe that will be my Christmas present. He told me to buy this particular brand and model, so he has experience with them.

Installed easily. Delicate care is required when plugging in the bulb so to not bump it and break the bulb

Easy to install but the UV bulb only lasts 4 months and costs $50 to replace.

The light was packed well and keeps the hvac clear of slime and other microbial sludge that builds up if no light is present.
