My wife has been interested in calligraphy for some time. This set caught her eye and I ordered it for her. It’s a beautiful regal-looking set with a gold-dusted plume, gold holder, nibs, and letter opener. It is beautifully packaged and harkens back to an era long gone.My wife had issues with the functionality of this set that frustrated her. The nibs she tried did not hold ink very well and sometimes blotted it on the paper or blotted it on her fingers, and other times the ink would run out way too quick. Her penmanship was very inconsistent. She was so frustrated and was wondering if she lost her touch that she actually went and took out her childhood set that she’s used for years and tested it against this set. She used the same paper and the same ink. Her writing was remarkably better and more consistent, and the ink in the nib consistently lasted for half a page.This is a beautiful set that is decorative and nice to display or give as a gift, but if someone is actually intending on using it, they may find it might leave them a little frustrated.
